Role Description
A facilities engineer manages, maintains, and improves the physical infrastructure, equipment, and utility systems of a building or plant. They ensure that systems like power, plumbing, and climate control operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all local laws and safety rules.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance and repairs to the mechanical, plumbing, structural, furniture, fire, life safety, and control systems at various sites. Keep facility and building systems up to applicable standards as assigned.
- Assist with the implementation of a preventive maintenance program to ensure that building machinery and systems meet or exceed their rated life. Perform emergency repairs as needed.
- Follow departmental policies for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials. Maintain a clean and safe workplace.
- Review inspection to building systems including fire alarms, Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC), and plumbing to ensure operation of equipment is within design capabilities and achieves environmental conditions prescribed by client.
- Apply in-depth knowledge of standard principles and techniques/procedures to accomplish complex assignments and provide innovative solutions.
- Manage budgets for spare parts and control costs associated with contractors’ services.
- Manage and coordinate contractors and vendors according to contracts, and subcontract jobs at various sites and ensure contractors deliver quality jobs with safety compliance
- Prepare, review, and submit reports, proposals, and budgets to meet KPI and corporate deadlines.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical and or Electrical Engineering or any field related to Facilities / Building Management with more than 2 years of experience.
- In lieu of a diploma, a combination of experience of more than 4 years and education will be considered.
- Prior shift management or supervisory experience preferred.
- Meet the physical requirements of this role including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and the ability to lift/carry heavy loads or more.
- Strong leadership, contractor/vendor management, and problem-solving skills.
- Organizational skills with an advanced inquisitive mindset.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and new challenges.
Preferred Experience
- Experience sourcing, supervising, and evaluating external contractors for specialized repair and upgrade work.
- Experience in inspecting building systems including fire alarms, Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC), and plumbing.
- Experience in handling various site.
