Patisserie Woo | Guthrie House, near Sixth Avenue MRT (Downtown Line)Full-time | 5-day work week | S$2,800–S$4,000/month (based on experience)
About Us
Patisserie Woo is a homegrown Singapore patisserie known for refined pastries and handcrafted gelato. We're now expanding into hot and savoury with a new cafe concept with hot, savoury food — artisanal, comfort food with inventive, flavourful fillings. This is a brand-new café experience for our customers, and we're looking for a founding chef to help build it from the ground up.
The Role
We're looking for a capable, self-directed hot savoury food chef to join our café as part of the opening team — shaping the savoury menu and then running it day to day. You'll help develop hot savoury dishes that feel French/Western and distinctly ours, and make sure every plate that leaves the kitchen is consistent and well executed. Some light baking support may be needed occasionally; we'll train you on that.
This role suits someone who can work independently and take ownership, while also being hands-on in service — planning ahead, documenting process, and leading by example in a small, fast-paced kitchen from day one.
Key Responsibilities
Menu & Recipes
- Lead menu design and recipe development for hot savoury dishes, bringing French/Western flavours and creativity to the concept
- Build and maintain a recipe database, SOPs, and seasonal menu rotations
- Contribute to seasonal specials, and assist with new dish development as the concept grows
Kitchen Operations
- Prepare and cook according to approved recipes and presentation standards
- Carry out daily mise en place and ensure the kitchen is service-ready
- Maintain consistent standards of taste, portioning, presentation and speed
- Monitor ingredient quality, stock levels, wastage and food costs
- Receive and store ingredients correctly, following FIFO procedures
- Plan inventory and coordinate directly with suppliers
Team & Standards
- Help set up the savoury kitchen and workflows as part of the café's opening team
- Train and onboard staff on new recipes and techniques; supervise junior kitchen team members where required
- Maintain a clean, organised, food-safe kitchen in line with SFA requirements and hygiene procedures
- Ensure food safety, sanitation, and allergen awareness across the menu
- Coordinate with service, pastry and operations teams
- Support occasional events, pop-ups, or catering as needed
What We're Looking For
- At least 2 years of experience in a café, restaurant, or professional kitchen (candidates with less experience may be considered for a junior position)
- Comfortable with Western or contemporary café-style cooking, and open to French technique
- Able to work independently, plan ahead, and stay organised through busy service — without heavy supervision
- Strong communication skills; able to document recipes and processes clearly for kitchen staff
- Good grounding in food hygiene, kitchen safety, and stock management
- Culinary qualifications are a plus but not essential — proven experience matters more
- Detail-oriented and reliable, with pride in sending out every dish properly
- A positive, collaborative attitude suited to a small, close-knit team
What We Offer
- Creative ownership — shape a new savoury concept and be part of the founding team that opens it
- A supportive, close-knit team in a small-batch environment with room to grow
- Career development within a growing homegrown patisserie and café brand
- Convenient location, 5 minutes' walk from Sixth Avenue MRT
- Competitive salary based on experience
