Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Workday HCM Project Manager to lead a global Human Resources transformation initiative through the implementation of Workday Human Capital Management (HCM) from a Global Business Services (GBS) Centre in Kuala Lumpur.
As the client-side Project Manager and Workday Subject Matter Expert (SME), you will be responsible for managing the end-to-end implementation in partnership with the implementation vendor, while coordinating internal stakeholders across HR, IT, Payroll, Finance, and business functions.
You will drive project governance, stakeholder engagement, solution delivery, business readiness, and successful adoption throughout the implementation lifecycle. Key Responsibilities:
Project Leadership & Delivery
- Lead and coordinate the end-to-end Workday HCM implementation from project initiation through post go-live stabilization.
- Serve as the primary internal Workday HCM Subject Matter Expert (SME) throughout the implementation journey.
- Manage project scope, timelines, budget, risks, issues, dependencies, and overall project governance.
- Drive project reporting, status updates, and executive communications.
- Ensure successful delivery of project milestones and implementation objectives.
Stakeholder & Vendor Management
- Act as the primary liaison between the organization and the Workday implementation partner.
- Coordinate project activities across HR, IT, Payroll, Finance, and business stakeholders across multiple countries.
- Facilitate workshops, requirement gathering sessions, solution reviews, and decision-making discussions.
- Build strong relationships with business leaders and key stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Manage stakeholder expectations and communication throughout the implementation lifecycle.
Solution Implementation & Business Readiness
- Support solution design, configuration validation, and alignment of Workday processes with business requirements.
- Coordinate testing activities including User Acceptance Testing (UAT), defect management, and resolution tracking.
- Oversee data migration readiness and deployment activities.
- Drive go-live preparation, business readiness, and post-implementation support.
- Promote user adoption and continuous improvement initiatives after implementation.
Governance & Risk Management
- Identify project risks, issues, and dependencies, and implement appropriate mitigation plans.
- Ensure compliance with project governance standards and organizational requirements.
- Escalate critical issues and provide recommendations to senior management.
- Monitor implementation progress and ensure project objectives are achieved.
Additional Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with HR, IT, Payroll, Finance, and business leaders across multiple countries.
- Work effectively with external implementation partners and consulting teams.
- Support organizational change management and business adoption activities.
- Promote best practices in HR technology, digital transformation, and process improvement.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by senior management.
Essential Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Information Technology, Business Administration, Project Management, or related discipline.
- Proven experience leading at least one full-cycle Workday HCM implementation, preferably as a Project Manager, Functional Lead, or client-side implementation lead.
- Strong understanding of Workday HCM functionality and HR business processes.
- Demonstrated experience managing enterprise HR technology implementation or digital transformation projects.
- Experience working with Workday implementation partners or external consulting firms.
- Strong project management, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
- Ability to work strategically while maintaining hands-on involvement in a fast-paced project environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Workday HCM Pro Certification or equivalent Workday certification.
- Experience supporting global or multi-country Workday implementations.
- Knowledge of Workday integrations, data migration, testing, and change management.
- Experience supporting post go-live stabilization, system optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Experience working in the oil & gas industry or supporting Workday implementations within the energy sector is an added advantage.
