Job Description

Responsibilities

Position Overview

We are seeking a hands-on and dependable Infrastructure Support Engineer to maintain and support our servers, networks, databases, cloud services, user environments and production infrastructure.

Your primary responsibility will be to keep our technology environment secure, reliable and available to employees and customers. You will administer Windows and Linux servers, support Microsoft technologies, troubleshoot network and VPN issues, monitor production systems, manage backups and coordinate with external vendors when specialist assistance is required.

Preference will be given to candidates who can write scripts to automate operational tasks and who have experience supporting existing business applications. This is primarily an infrastructure and production-support position, not a software-development role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, monitor, patch and maintain Windows and Linux servers.
  • Support production, staging, testing, development, backup and disaster-recovery environments.
  • Administer Windows Server, Active Directory, domain controllers, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, user accounts, security groups and access permissions.
  • Maintain IIS, web servers, application services, scheduled processes and security certificates.
  • Monitor server availability, capacity, performance, logs and security alerts.
  • Configure and troubleshoot firewalls, routers, switches, DNS, internet connectivity and remote-access or site-to-site VPNs.
  • Administer Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Exchange Online, Teams and related services, where applicable.
  • Support employee computers, business software, endpoint protection, remote access and related equipment.
  • Monitor Microsoft SQL Server databases, backups, scheduled jobs, permissions, storage and routine maintenance.
  • Monitor production applications, databases, servers, networks, backups and scheduled processes.
  • Respond promptly to system alerts, user-reported problems and service interruptions.
  • Diagnose whether an incident originates in the application, database, server, network, configuration or user environment.
  • Restore services safely, document resolutions and help prevent recurring incidents.
  • Apply approved patches and infrastructure changes in accordance with change-control procedures.
  • Monitor backup jobs, investigate failures and participate in restoration and disaster-recovery testing.
  • Maintain infrastructure diagrams, system inventories, configuration records, runbooks and recovery procedures.
  • Liaise with Microsoft, hosting providers, internet providers, managed-service providers and other vendors to resolve technical issues.
  • Escalate advanced software, networking, cloud or cybersecurity matters to appropriate specialists.

Scripting and Application Support

Candidates with scripting and application-support capabilities will be given preference. Depending on experience, you may also:

  • Write and maintain PowerShell, Bash, Python, SQL or similar scripts.
  • Automate monitoring, health checks, backups, account administration, deployments, reporting and other repetitive tasks.
  • Monitor and support existing business applications.
  • Review application logs, configuration files, database records and scheduled processes.
  • Assist users with application functionality and operational issues.
  • Perform approved configuration changes, data corrections and minor application updates.
  • Test and verify application fixes provided by software developers.
  • Escalate software defects with clear diagnostic information and reproduction steps.
  • Read and troubleshoot existing application code where necessary.

Required Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in information technology, computer science, computer engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least three years of relevant experience in infrastructure support, systems administration, production support or a comparable position.
  • Hands-on experience administering Windows Server and Active Directory.
  • Working knowledge of Linux server administration.
  • Experience supporting networks, DNS, DHCP, firewalls and VPNs.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365, Entra ID, user administration and access control.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server administration, backups and operational troubleshooting.
  • Experience supporting production systems where availability, security and timely incident response are important.
  • Understanding of backup, disaster recovery, patch management, endpoint protection and system monitoring.
  • Ability to diagnose problems across servers, networks, databases and user environments.
  • Strong documentation, communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize competing issues and take ownership of problems through resolution.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with PowerShell, Bash, Python, SQL or other scripting languages.
  • Experience supporting existing enterprise or business applications.
  • Ability to understand or troubleshoot existing C#, .NET, ASP.NET, JavaScript or comparable application code.
  • Experience with IIS and Microsoft-based web applications.
  • Stronger knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL.
  • Experience with AWS, Microsoft Azure or hybrid cloud environments.
  • Experience with virtualization, containers, centralized logging, monitoring or backup platforms.
  • Familiarity with Git, source control, CI/CD pipelines and controlled production deployments.
  • Familiarity with ISO 27001, ITIL, SOC 2 or comparable operational and security frameworks.
  • Relevant Microsoft, Linux, networking, database, cloud or cybersecurity certifications.

Personal Attributes

The successful candidate will be:

  • A practical and methodical problem-solver.
  • Careful when making changes to production systems.
  • Comfortable maintaining established systems and technologies.
  • Responsive and calm when handling service interruptions.
  • Security-conscious and respectful of confidential information.
  • Able to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical users.
  • Proactive in identifying recurring problems and improving operational processes.
  • Willing to seek and coordinate specialist assistance when required.

Working Conditions

This is a full-time infrastructure and production-support position. Occasional work outside normal business hours may be required for scheduled maintenance or urgent production incidents. The employee may participate in a reasonable on-call arrangement in accordance with company policy and applicable Singapore employment requirements.

The position involves privileged access to production systems, customer information, credentials and confidential material. All work must follow the company’s security, access-control, incident-management and change-management procedures.
