Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the performance, integrity, and security of our databases. As a DBA, you will work closely with our project team member to ensure the availability and functionality of our database systems, optimizing their performance and implementing data security measures.


Key Responsibilities

1. Database Management:

• Install, configure, and maintain database software and related technologies.

• Monitor and optimize database performance, ensuring high availability and reliability.

• Configure database backups and disaster recovery procedures.

• Troubleshoot database issues and perform root cause analysis.

2. Data Security:

• Implement and maintain data security policies and procedures.

• Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and standards.

• Configure and maintain database access and permissions, identifying and mitigating security risks.

3. Database Design and Development:

• Collaborate with developers to design and implement database schemas.

• Optimize database design for performance and scalability.

• Develop and maintain database documentation and standards.

4. Database Administration:

• Create and maintain database users and roles, managing access permissions.

• Perform database upgrades and patches, ensuring system compatibility and stability.

• Configure and maintain database replication and clustering for high availability.

5. Performance Tuning and Optimization:

• Analyze and optimize database queries and indexes for improved performance.

• Monitor database performance metrics and implement tuning strategies as needed.

• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and resource contention issues.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.

• In-depth knowledge of database management systems (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle…etc)

• Strong understanding of data security principles and best practices.

• Effective communication and collaboration abilities.

• Hands-on experience driving improvements in product performance via changes in database schema, logical and physical data organization (partitioning), tuning and configuration.

• Experience implementing/maintaining database failover mechanism (clustering, mirroring, Availability Group) and perform disaster recovery exercises for mission-critical databases.

• Experience with maintaining and optimizing MongoDB is a plus.

• Strong skills in SSRS report development and SSIS/ETL.

• Relevant certifications (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate) are a plus.
