Job Description

Responsibilities

Job Summary
The Special Needs Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering individualized, evidence-based educational programmes for children with developmental delays, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), ADHD, learning disabilities, and other special educational needs. The teacher works collaboratively with families and multidisciplinary professionals to promote each child's academic, communication, social, behavioural, and functional development.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Learning

  • Plan and deliver Individualized Education Programme (IEP) goals.
  • Conduct structured one-to-one and small group intervention sessions.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to meet each child's learning needs.
  • Develop and prepare teaching materials and visual supports.
  • Foster literacy, numeracy, communication, social, self-help, and school readiness skills.
  • Implement evidence-based teaching approaches (e.g., visual schedules, task analysis, prompting hierarchy, positive reinforcement).

Assessment & Documentation

  • Conduct baseline and ongoing developmental assessments.
  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records.
  • Prepare professional progress reports and IEP reviews.
  • Update daily communication logs and attendance records.

Behaviour Management

  • Implement positive behaviour support strategies.
  • Monitor and document behavioural concerns.
  • Promote emotional regulation and appropriate social interactions.
  • Ensure a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.

Parent Collaboration

  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress.
  • Provide home programme recommendations.
  • Participate in parent meetings and consultations.

Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists, Psychologists, and other professionals.
  • Attend staff meetings and case discussions.
  • Participate in professional development and training.

Administrative Duties

  • Maintain classroom organisation and cleanliness.
  • Ensure teaching resources are well maintained.
  • Comply with centre policies, safeguarding procedures, and health and safety requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Special Education, Early Childhood Education, Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Education, or a related field.
  • Experience working with children with special needs is preferred.
  • Fresh graduates with a passion for special education are encouraged to apply.

Pay: RM1,700.00 - RM2,500.00 per month
