Job Summary
The Assistant Chemist/ Laboratory Technician performs routine analytical testing and provides daily technical support to the chemistry team. Primary responsibilities include receiving and verifying incoming samples, conducting wet digestion and titrations, and assisting Chemists with sample analysis using AAS and ICP instrumentation while maintaining lab safety and compliance standards.
Job Description
- Receive, log, verify, and organize incoming test samples to ensure accurate tracking and chain of custody.
- Perform wet digestion and standard sample preparation procedures according to SOPs.
- Assist Chemists in sample analysis using analytical instruments such as AAS (Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy) and ICP (Inductively Coupled Plasma).
- Perform standard titrations, volumetric analyses, and reagent preparations.
- Assist Chemists with data logging, routine lab upkeep, standard solution preparations, and basic equipment maintenance.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) standards.
Job Requirement
- Diploma or Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Applied Science, or related scientific field preferred.
- 1-3 years of experience in a laboratory setting, preferably in an industrial, chemical, or waste management environment (fresh graduates are encouraged to apply).
- Familiarity with basic laboratory techniques.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
- Ability to perform tasks independently with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Excel).
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Willing and able to work 6 days a week (Monday to Saturday), with one scheduled rest day per week.
Pay: RM2,500.00 - RM2,800.00 per month
