Job Description

Responsibilities

Facilities Technician (IFM)

As a Facilities Technician (IFM), you will be responsible for the operations, maintenance and hands-on management of building systems across our nursing homes and eldercare facilities. You will serve as the first point of contact for facilities-related matters on site, taking an Integrated Facilities Management (IFM) approach that emphasises self-performing a broad range of maintenance works to improve response times, reduce vendor reliance and enhance operational reliability.

You will independently troubleshoot, repair and maintain M&E, ACMV, plumbing, electrical, fire safety and healthcare-related systems, while ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and minimising disruption to resident care.

Key Responsibilities:

Building & M&E Maintenance

  • Troubleshoot electrical faults and power-related issues.
  • Repair lighting, switches, sockets and carry out minor electrical installations.
  • Conduct routine inspections of M&E systems.
  • Troubleshoot pumps, compressors and associated equipment.
  • Attend to emergency breakdowns and fault rectification, including after-hours incidents.

ACMV & Mechanical Systems

  • Troubleshoot air-conditioning faults and perform basic ACMV maintenance.
  • Support maintenance of chillers, chilled water pumps, AHUs and ventilation systems.
  • Conduct equipment inspections and coordinate specialist support for major repairs when required.

Plumbing & Building Fabric Works

  • Resolve common plumbing defects, leaks and sanitary fitting issues.
  • Carry out painting, touch-up and minor building repair works.
  • Restore facilities in-house without requiring external contractors for small-value works.

Fire Safety Compliance

  • Conduct fire drills and tabletop exercises.
  • Perform fire safety inspections and support fire certificate renewals.
  • Inspect hose reels, extinguishers, alarm systems and fire protection infrastructure.
  • Maintain compliance with fire safety requirements.

Healthcare Facilities Support

  • Troubleshoot resident beds, PA systems, hose reel pump systems and basic medical-related equipment.
  • Support maintenance of kitchen equipment.
  • Respond promptly to operational issues affecting residents and caregivers.
  • Understand and work within the requirements of an elderly care environment.

Facilities Management, Systems & Administration

  • Utilise facilities management systems, CMMS and digital work-order platforms (e.g. Microsoft Power Apps) to log, track, manage and close maintenance requests.
  • Maintain accurate records of repair, preventive maintenance and inspection activities.
  • Support procurement processes, including raising purchase requisitions, collating quotations and providing reports.
  • Coordinate and manage external vendors for servicing, repairs and preventive maintenance.
  • Support facilities setup, defect management, commissioning and operational readiness activities, particularly for new sites.

Job Requirements:

  • At least a NITEC/Higher NITEC/Diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, Facilities/Building Services or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 1–2 years of relevant hands-on experience in troubleshooting ACMV and M&E faults; experience in a healthcare or nursing home environment will be a strong advantage.
  • Broad IFM competency across M&E, ACMV, plumbing, electrical, fire safety and general building maintenance, with the ability to self-perform works rather than solely coordinate vendors.
  • Fire Safety certification (e.g. SCDF Fire Safety Course) will be advantageous.
  • Comfortable working with facilities management systems, CMMS and digital work-order platforms; proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Creative, resourceful and hands-on, with a strong ownership mindset and cost-conscious approach.
  • Able to work independently, manage competing priorities and respond to urgent or after-hours maintenance matters.
  • Team player with good communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
