As the Senior Operations Manager, you will report to the Operations Director to support the Malaysia operations team. You will be accountable for overseeing the day-to-day management and maintenance of the data center in Malaysia. We are sourcing for a candidate with strong and solid background in data center operations, including experience in managing large-scale facilities and technical staff. This position plays a pivotal role in ensuring that the data center operations are efficient, reliable, and secure. You must possess strong leadership and technical skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with other departments within the organization.
Key Responsibility
- Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the data center, ensuring smooth functioning, efficiency, and adherence to service level agreements (SLAs). Responsible for the performance optimisation of critical infrastructure such as chiller plant and power distribution units.
- Develop and implement data center strategies which aligned with senior management’s short term, mid-term, and long-term data center strategies.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to the team members to ensure a high level of productivity and operational excellence.
- Ensure data center uptime and availability whereby the data center operates at peak efficiency and is always available to users.
- Develop and implement robust incident and change management processes. Respond to and resolve critical incidents in a timely manner, minimizing impact and ensuring high availability of services. Review and approve change requests, ensuring proper testing, documentation, and communication.
- Responsible for budgeting and cost management, including identifying opportunities for cost savings and optimization without compromising service quality.
- Ensure the data center complies with all relevant regulations and standards, including those related to data security, privacy, and environmental sustainability.
- Develop and implement a disaster recovery and business continuity plan to ensure that the data center can continue to operate in the event of an outage or other disaster.
- Maintain relationships with clients, vendors, and service providers to ensure that the data center has access to the latest technologies and services.
- Responsible for the accurate documentation of data center processes, procedures, and configurations. Regular reporting and updating of operational performance, uptime, incident management, and capacity utilization to management and stakeholders.
- Stay up to date with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in data center operations. Drive opportunities for process improvements, automation, and innovation to enhance operational effectiveness and scalability.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering/building services/facilities management or equivalent. Master’s degree is a plus.
- Extensive knowledge in mechanical, electrical and fire protection system.
- Proven 10 to 15 years of experience in data center operations and critical infrastructure system, with a focus on mission-critical environments.
- Excellent in problem solving and root cause analysis.
- Exceptional customer experience and leadership skills.
- Center Professional (CDCP), Certified Data Centre Management Professional (CDCMP), or similar, are highly desirable.
