ROLE OVERVIEW
We invite a highly skilled and motivated NOC Network Engineer to join our team and take ownership of our network infrastructure. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Strategy & Planning
- Capacity Planning: Collaborate with the Technical Manager to assess near- and long-term network capacity requirements, ensuring the infrastructure scales in line with business growth.
- Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation covering network configurations, topology diagrams, processes, and service records.
- Policy Development: Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and training plans for network administration, acceptable usage, and disaster recovery.
- Solution Design: Apply technical expertise to design innovative network solutions that align with the organisation’s strategic objectives.
2. Acquisition & Deployment
- Network Deployment: Design and deploy enterprise-grade LAN, WAN, SDWAN and wireless network infrastructure, including servers, routers, switches, hubs, UPS systems, and associated hardware.
- Technology Research: Conduct ongoing research on network products, services, protocols, and emerging standards to remain current with industry developments.
- Equipment Management: Oversee installation, configuration and upgrade of network equipment, hardware, and software.
- VOIP Administration: Maintain and administer VOIP phone systems, including servers and handsets
- CCTV Management: Maintain and manage CCTV systems to ensure operational continuity and physical security.
3. Operational Management
- Network Configuration: Configure and manage network infrastructure to ensure stable, secure, and efficient operations in support of company objectives.
- Performance Monitoring: Continuously monitor network performance, proactively identifying and resolving issues to minimise downtime and service disruption.
- Device Management: Oversee the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of WAN, SDWAN and network devices.
- Connectivity Management: Ensure reliable network connectivity across all servers, workstations, telephony equipment, fax machines, and networked appliances.
- Server Management: Manage servers as required to support network operations and service availability.
- Asset Management: Maintain an accurate and up-to-date inventory of network components, technical specifications, and associated documentation.
- Reporting: Monitor, test, and report on network performance metrics, providing regular statistics and analysis to management.
- Security Management: Participate in the management and implementation of all network security solutions and risk mitigation strategies.
- Audits & Recovery: Perform regular server and security audits, as well as system backup and recovery operations.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Professional networking certifications are highly desirable (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA Network+, HCIA, HCIP or equivalent).
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in network engineering, NOC operations, or a related network and security role.
- Proven experience in LAN, WAN, WLAN, and SDWAN design, implementation, and management.
- Solid hands-on experience with routing and switching technologies and protocols
- Deep understanding of TCP/IP protocols, the OSI model, DNS, Open SSL, and cryptography.
- Exposure to network security solutions including VPN, DDoS mitigation, WAF, SIEM, and malware defense.
- Experience with VMware or equivalent hypervisor platforms.
- Hands-on experience with Linux (e.g., Red Hat, Ubuntu) operating systems
- Proven experience in managing and maintaining enterprise VOIP phone systems.
- Demonstrated experience with network capacity planning and performance management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to perform effectively under pressure.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Highly self-motivated and detail-oriented, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
- Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
