Responsibilities

Job Overview

The Security & Safety Manager oversees all aspects of security, safety, and loss prevention within the property. The role ensures a safe environment for guests, associates, and assets by implementing effective security policies, managing risks, and maintaining compliance with safety standards and regulations.


Duties and Responsibilities:


1. Risk & Safety Management

• Develop and implement security, safety, and loss prevention strategies.

• Conduct regular risk assessments and ensure compliance with Workplace Safety & Health (WSH) requirements.

• Lead incident investigations and ensure corrective actions are taken.

• Maintain ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and other relevant safety certifications.


2. Security Operations

• Review and update security policies, systems, and standard operating procedures.

• Manage access control, surveillance systems, and deployment of security personnel.

• Conduct regular security and fire safety audits to ensure full regulatory compliance.

• Maintain accurate documentation of incidents, reports, and security records.


3. Training & Development

• Identify training needs and implement annual training plans for all security staff.

• Conduct security awareness and emergency response training for hotel associates.

• Mentor and develop the team for succession planning and continuous improvement.


4. Emergency & Crisis Management

• Develop and implement the hotel’s Crisis Response and Business Continuity Plans.

• Lead Emergency Response Team (ERT) training and regular fire drills.

• Serve as the Fire Safety Manager (FSM), ensuring all fire safety regulations are met.

• Liaise with authorities and government agencies during emergencies.


5. Crime Prevention & Investigations

• Maintain vigilance through patrols, CCTV monitoring, and access control.

• Investigate and report all incidents of theft, loss, or suspicious activities.

• Coordinate with law enforcement agencies for investigations when required.


6. Security Technology & Equipment

• Oversee maintenance of CCTV, alarm, and access control systems.

• Coordinate with vendors for system upgrades, repairs, and technology integration.

• Collaborate with IT and management to adopt technologies that enhance safety and efficiency.


7. VIP & Event Security

• Plan and coordinate security arrangements for VIP guests and large-scale events.

• Work with local authorities and agencies to ensure seamless and secure event operations.


8. Leadership & Administration

• Lead and motivate the security team, ensuring professionalism and high performance.

• Manage departmental budgets, expenditures, and resource allocation.

• Promote teamwork, communication, and a culture of safety across all departments.


9. Guest & Associate Relations

• Provide a visible and approachable security presence in guest areas.

• Address safety concerns promptly and professionally.

• Support hotel operations through collaboration and proactive engagement.


10. Fire Safety Management

• Oversee compliance with the Emergency Response Plan and Fire Code requirements.

• Conduct regular fire drills, table-top exercises, and safety inspections.

• Supervise the Fire Command Centre during emergencies and coordinate firefighting and evacuation efforts.

• Promote fire safety awareness through campaigns and training programs



Requirements:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in security management at supervisory level, preferably in the hospitality industry.

• Diploma/Degree in Security Management, Occupational Safety & Health, or a related field.

• Certified Fire Safety Manager (FSM) 

• Strong leadership skills with experience in team management and training.

• Solid knowledge of WSH regulations, fire safety, and emergency preparedness.

• Excellent crisis management, risk assessment, and investigative skills.

• Ability to work effectively with law enforcement agencies and regulatory bodies.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a guest-oriented mindset.

• Experience in conducting security audits, investigations, and training programs.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle emergency situations efficiently.
