Role Overview

We are looking for a Field Operations Engineer to support the operation, maintenance, and expansion of our global submarine cable infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with DWDM, SDH, Ethernet, IP/MPLS, and optical transmission systems, ensuring the reliability and availability of submarine cable landing stations and backbone networks.

This position involves network operations, fault troubleshooting, optical testing, project implementation, circuit migrations, and installation & commissioning activities across multiple regional network sites.

Key Responsibilities:

Network Operations & Maintenance

• Operate and maintain submarine cable landing station (SCLS) infrastructure and transmission equipment.
• Manage and support DWDM, SDH, Ethernet, IP/MPLS, SLTE, and optical transmission platforms.
• Monitor network health and ensure maximum network uptime and service availability.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of telecom infrastructure.

Fault Management & Troubleshooting

• Diagnose and resolve Layer-1 and Layer-2 network faults.
• Troubleshoot transmission equipment, optical links, and customer circuits.
• Coordinate with NOC teams, vendors, and service providers to restore services within SLA.
• Support incident management and root cause analysis.

Network Deployment & Project Implementation

• Install, configure, commission, and upgrade:
• DWDM systems
• SDH equipment
• IP/MPLS devices
• Ethernet switches
• Voice and transmission equipment
• Execute network expansion projects and infrastructure upgrades.
• Perform physical and optical circuit migrations with minimal service disruption.

Optical Testing & Network Validation

• Perform network testing using:
• OTDR
• COTDR
• Optical Power Meter
• Optical Test Equipment
• Conduct Layer-1 and Layer-2 certification testing.
• Validate newly deployed circuits before service activation.

Submarine Cable Support

• Support submarine cable repair activities.
• Perform PFE operations during subsea cable restoration.
• Coordinate with cable repair ships during maintenance and repair windows.
• Execute COTDR testing throughout repair activities.

Service Delivery & Provisioning

• Support provisioning of:
• Carrier Ethernet
• Metro Ethernet
• SDH/DWDM services
• IP/MPLS circuits
• International backbone links
• Voice services
• Last-mile connectivity
• Work closely with Service Delivery and Engineering teams to activate new customer services.

Asset & Infrastructure Management

• Maintain accurate inventory of network equipment and hardware assets.
• Update OSS/BSS systems and network documentation.
• Ensure compliance with audit, operational, and documentation standards.
• Support datacenter housekeeping and infrastructure maintenance.

Field Operations

• Travel to multiple Points of Presence (PoPs) for maintenance and deployment activities.
• Participate in rotational shifts and 24×7 standby support.
• Support regional deployments across Singapore and other APAC locations when required.

Continuous Improvement

• Improve operational efficiency and network availability.
• Support facility maintenance and infrastructure optimization.
• Drive cost-saving initiatives without compromising network reliability.
• Participate in network enhancement and modernization projects
