Job Description

Responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced Energy Marshal to join our project delivery team in Singapore. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and controlling all energized systems during construction, commissioning, and operational readiness activities. Working closely with project management, commissioning, contractors, and client representatives, the Energy Marshal will ensure safe energization, isolation, and management of electrical systems while maintaining strict compliance with project procedures and safety regulations.

This role is critical to maintaining personnel safety and protecting mission-critical infrastructure throughout all phases of project execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and enforce the project's Electrical Safe Work Practices (ESWP) and Energy Isolation (Lock Out/Tag Out - LOTO) procedures.
  • Manage all energization activities during construction, commissioning, and handover phases.
  • Control the issuance and authorization of permits for energized electrical work.
  • Coordinate energization schedules with project management, commissioning teams, contractors, and client representatives.
  • Verify that all pre-energization inspections, testing, documentation, and approvals have been completed before energization.
  • Maintain complete records of energized systems, lockout/tagout registers, switching schedules, and permit documentation.
  • Monitor energized work activities to ensure compliance with approved safety procedures and project requirements.
  • Conduct daily inspections to identify electrical hazards and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Participate in commissioning planning meetings and support system turnover activities.
  • Coordinate electrical isolations required for testing, maintenance, inspections, and commissioning works.
  • Investigate electrical safety incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions, implementing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Deliver electrical safety briefings, toolbox talks, and awareness training to project personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with Singapore Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) regulations, client standards, and project-specific procedures.
  • Support emergency response planning related to energized electrical systems.
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities, consultants, subcontractors, and client representatives on electrical safety matters.
  • Promote a strong safety culture focused on hazard identification, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical safety, commissioning, or construction within mission-critical facilities, data centres, industrial plants, or major infrastructure projects.
  • Previous experience as an Energy Marshal, Electrical Safety Officer, Commissioning Engineer, Electrical Supervisor, or similar role.
  • Strong understanding of electrical distribution systems including:
  • Medium Voltage (MV)
  • Low Voltage (LV)
  • UPS systems
  • Generators
  • Switchgear
  • Transformers
  • Protection systems
  • Thorough knowledge of Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO), electrical isolation, switching procedures, and energized work controls.
  • Experience supporting commissioning and system energization activities.
  • Familiarity with Permit-to-Work (PTW) systems.
  • Excellent coordination, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong documentation and reporting abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced project environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Energy Marshal certification or equivalent electrical safety qualification.
  • WSH certification relevant to construction or engineering projects in Singapore.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Experience on hyperscale Data Centre, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, or mission-critical facility projects.
  • Knowledge of NFPA 70E, IEEE, IEC, or equivalent international electrical safety standards.
  • Experience with commissioning management platforms and digital permit systems.
