Job Summary

Join Carnaby as a Sous Chef to lead kitchen operations, ensuring food quality and safety while mentoring the team and supporting menu planning in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Executive Chef in planning menus and preparing food to meet quality and presentation standards
• Manage kitchen inventory by ordering supplies and rotating stock to minimize food waste
• Supervise, mentor, and train line cooks and kitchen staff to maintain efficient operations under pressure
• Enforce compliance with NEA hygiene, safety, and sanitation standards including HACCP and SFA guidelines
• Maintain calm and effective leadership during busy service periods to ensure smooth kitchen workflow

Required competencies and certifications

• Minimum 3–5 years of culinary experience in a fast-paced restaurant environment, including 1–2 years in a supervisory or Sous Chef role
• Ability to work split shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required by restaurant operations

Preferred competencies and qualifications

• Strong technical cooking skills demonstrated through consistent food quality and presentation
• Leadership capabilities shown by effective team supervision and training
