Responsibilities

Company Description TKR Engineering Sdn Bhd is a Malaysian oilfield services company and the engineering arm of Misarma Group of Companies, delivering integrated drilling and well services to the upstream oil and gas industry. As we continue to expand our operations across Malaysia and internationally, we are seeking qualified, safety focused offshore drilling and well services professionals to join our growing team.


Role Description The Senior Well Services Engineer is a contract, on-site role based in Kuala Lumpur City. The role involves planning, supervising, and optimizing well intervention and well services operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective execution. Day-to-day tasks include diagnosing well performance issues, coordinating field service activities, providing technical support to operations teams, and overseeing maintenance and repair of well service equipment. The engineer will collaborate with internal stakeholders and clients to evaluate well data, recommend intervention strategies, and prepare technical documentation and reports. This role also supports continuous improvement by reviewing job performance, troubleshooting recurring challenges, and mentoring junior team members.


Key Responsibilities


A. Engineering & Project Leadership

  • Lead the planning and engineering design of well services programmes in accordance with client specifications, regulatory requirements, and company standards.
  • Review well history, production data, integrity status, and operational constraints to develop technically sound well service solutions.
  • Prepare and approve engineering calculations, operational procedures, technical work packs, and contingency plans.
  • Provide technical leadership throughout project planning, execution, and project close-out.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, and optimise service delivery.


B. Project Execution

  • Oversee well services operations, including well testing, stimulation, acidising, hydraulic workover, coiled tubing, wireline, slickline, completion, production logging, clean-out, and other remedial well service activities.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams, contractors, service providers, and client representatives during project execution.
  • Monitor project schedules, budgets, operational performance, and resource utilisation.
  • Provide technical guidance and resolve complex engineering or operational issues during field activities.
  • Review daily operational reports, lessons learned, and final project documentation.


C. Technical Leadership & Performance Improvement

  • Lead engineering evaluations to optimise well performance, production enhancement, and operational efficiency.
  • Review post-job performance and recommend improvements for future operations.
  • Lead root cause analysis and technical investigations related to operational failures and equipment performance.
  • Develop and maintain engineering standards, operational procedures, and technical best practices.
  • Support business development activities by providing technical expertise for tendering, project proposals, and client engagements.


D. HSE & Continuous Improvement

  • Champion a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with company HSE Management Systems.
  • Lead HAZID, HAZOP, Management of Change (MOC), and technical risk assessments.
  • Support audits, regulatory inspections, and technical assurance reviews.
  • Lead incident investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers through coaching, technical guidance, and knowledge sharing.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance engineering practices, operational efficiency, and project delivery.


Authorities


  • Approve well services engineering recommendations and technical solutions within delegated authority.
  • Recommend suspension of operations where personnel safety, environmental protection, or well integrity is at risk.
  • Direct technical activities involving engineers, contractors, and service providers during project execution.
  • Review and approve engineering calculations, operational procedures, technical reports, and project documentation within delegated authority.
  • Escalate significant technical, operational, commercial, or HSE risks to the Well Services Superintendent or Well Integrated Services Manager.


Qualifications & Requirements


Education: Bachelor's Degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.


Experience:  

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Well Services, Well Intervention, Drilling, Completions, Production Engineering, or related well engineering disciplines within the Oil & Gas industry.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience leading well services projects or operations.
  • Proven experience managing complex offshore and/or onshore well services operations.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams, contractors, and service providers.
  • Strong knowledge of well services technologies, well integrity principles, production optimisation, and applicable regulatory requirements.


Languages: Good command of English, both written and spoken.


Technical Knowledge:

  • Well Services Engineering.
  • Well Testing, Stimulation, Acidising, Hydraulic Workover, Coiled Tubing, Wireline, Slickline, and Completion Operations.
  • Well Integrity and Barrier Management.
  • Production Optimisation and Well Performance Analysis.
  • Project Planning, Risk Assessment, HAZID, HAZOP, and Management of Change (MOC).
  • Well Engineering Software and Technical Reporting.
  • Applicable API, ISO, PETRONAS Technical Standards, and relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Mandatory certifications may include BOSIET/FOET with CA-EBS, H₂S Training, Offshore Medical Certificate, and other client-required certifications.
