Job Summary

We are seeking a responsible and proactive Safety Coordinator to support workplace safety and health activities for our HVAC, piping and ductwork installation projects in Singapore.

YIJIA ENGINEERING PTE. LTD. is looking for a committed Workplace Safety and Health Coordinator to join our project team.

Our company is involved in the installation of main HVAC systems, including chilled water piping, mechanical piping, ductwork and related mechanical works for industrial, cleanroom and semiconductor projects.

The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting daily site safety inspections, maintaining safety documentation and coordinating with the Project Manager, supervisors, workers, main contractors and other stakeholders to ensure that site activities are carried out safely and in accordance with project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct daily site safety inspections and identify unsafe acts, unsafe conditions and potential hazards.
• Ensure that workers comply with company safety procedures, site rules and applicable workplace safety requirements.
• Assist in the preparation, review and implementation of Risk Assessments, Safe Work Procedures and Method Statements.
• Conduct toolbox meetings, safety briefings and site inductions.
• Monitor high-risk activities, including lifting operations, work at height, hot work, confined space work and the use of mobile elevated work platforms.
• Check workers’ safety training certificates, permits and personal protective equipment.
• Coordinate with the Project Manager, Site Supervisor, main contractor and safety team on safety-related matters.
• Participate in safety meetings, site inspections, audits and incident investigations.
• Maintain safety records, inspection reports, training records, permits and other project documentation.
• Follow up on safety observations, non-conformances and corrective actions.
• Stop unsafe work where there is an immediate risk to personnel or property.
• Assist in emergency response arrangements and safety promotional activities.
• Ensure that subcontractors and workers understand and comply with site safety requirements.
• Perform other workplace safety and health duties assigned by the Project Manager or management.

Requirements

• Relevant Workplace Safety and Health qualification recognised in Singapore, such as an Advanced Certificate in Workplace Safety and Health or equivalent.
• Relevant experience as a Safety Coordinator in construction, mechanical, electrical or industrial projects is preferred.
• Familiar with Risk Assessments, Safe Work Procedures, Permit-to-Work systems and site safety documentation.
• Knowledge of work-at-height, lifting, hot work and mechanical installation activities will be an advantage.
• Experience in HVAC, piping, ductwork, cleanroom or semiconductor projects will be an advantage.
• Able to conduct site inspections and communicate safety requirements firmly and professionally.
• Responsible, disciplined and willing to spend the necessary time on site.
• Proactive in identifying hazards and following up on corrective actions.
• Able to work independently and cooperate with project teams.
• Good communication and documentation skills.
• Able to communicate in English.
• Ability to communicate in Mandarin will be an advantage, as the role may require communication with Mandarin-speaking workers and project personnel.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel will be an advantage.
• Candidates with certificates such as First Aid, Work at Height, Lifting Supervisor, Rigger and Signalman, or other relevant safety training will have an added advantage.
