Job Summary
The Technical Support & Customer Service Executive is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the museum's technical systems while delivering excellent visitor service. The role supports the maintenance of exhibitions, audio-visual equipment, interactive displays, facilities, and daily museum operations to provide a safe and engaging visitor experience.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Support
- Perform daily inspections of museum galleries, exhibition equipment, interactive displays, and facilities.
- Operate and troubleshoot audio-visual systems, projectors, digital signage, touchscreens, lighting, and multimedia equipment.
- Coordinate with contractors and vendors for preventive maintenance and repair works.
- Monitor and report equipment faults, maintenance issues, and follow up until resolution.
- Support the setup and dismantling of exhibitions, events, and museum programmes.
- Maintain maintenance records, service reports, and asset inventories.
- Ensure all technical equipment are functioning before the museum opens each day.
- Assist in implementing safety procedures and ensure compliance with workplace safety standards.
Customer Service
- Welcome and assist visitors with enquiries, directions, and museum information.
- Support ticketing operations and visitor admissions when required.
- Handle visitor feedback, complaints, and service recovery professionally.
- Ensure galleries and public areas remain clean, safe, and visitors ready.
- Support guided tours, educational programmes, and public engagement activities when required.
- Assist during museum events, exhibitions, and outreach programmes.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and incidents according to museum procedures.
Operations Support
- Assist with the daily opening and closing of museum facilities.
- Coordinate with internal departments and external service providers to support operational requirements.
- Monitor facility conditions and report defects promptly.
- Support inventory management for operational and technical equipment.
- Undertake any other duties assigned by the Reporting Officer.
Job Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Engineering, Electronics, Information Technology, Facilities Management, Hospitality, Tourism, or a related discipline.
- 1–3 years of experience in technical support, facilities management, customer service, museum operations, or a related field.
- Knowledge of audio-visual systems, multimedia equipment, and basic troubleshooting is an advantage.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Customer-focused with excellent problem-solving abilities.
- Able to work independently as well as in a team.
- Willing to work on weekends, public holidays, and on a rotating shift schedule when required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Physically able to support exhibition setup and operational activities.
Preferred Skills
- Experience supporting museums, galleries, attractions, or event venues.
- Basic understanding of building facilities management and preventive maintenance.
- First Aid certification is an advantage.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
