A Production Engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating, and optimizing manufacturing processes to ensure efficient production output while maintaining product quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness. The role leads continuous process improvement initiatives, oversees equipment reliability and manufacturing performance, and collaborates closely with Production, Quality, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and other cross-functional teams to achieve operational excellence. In addition, the Production Engineer provides leadership, coaching, and technical guidance to the production team, fostering a culture of continuous learning, accountability, and operational excellence.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
- Execute production schedules in coordination with planning and operations teams to meet customer and business demands and goals.
- Analyze manufacturing and warehousing processes and workflows for continuous improvement in productivity, efficiency, and cost reduction.
- Enforce workplace organization standards and good housekeeping practices (5S).
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean Manufacturing, 5S, process digitalization, and manufacturing system integration.
- Work closely with the quality department to ensure products meet established quality standards and resolve any production-related quality issues.
- Equipment & Facility Management:
- Support maintenance teams for preventive and corrective maintenance.
- Work with Maintenance and Engineering teams to improve equipment reliability and production efficiency.
- Investigate production issues or equipment failures, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Ensure that all production activities comply with safety regulations, environmental standards, and internal policies, including GMP and ISO requirements as applicable.
- Oversee risk assessment-based activities and conduct pre-job safety briefings.
- Serve as the Site Incident Controller (SIC) during emergency response situations.
- Provide technical support to production teams and operators.
- Develop, review, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and process documentation.
- Support the training and competency development of production personnel.
- New Product Introduction (NPI):
- Support scale-up and introduction of new products or processes into the production line.
- Data Analysis & Reporting:
- Collect and analyze production data (e.g., yield, downtime, cycle time) to monitor performance and support decision-making.
- Monitor resource utilization and production costs to ensure efficient operations and budget adherence.
- Identify and implement cost reduction and waste minimization initiatives while maintaining product quality and operational efficiency.
- Participate in or lead manufacturing improvement projects, including process optimization, automation, equipment upgrades, and facility improvement initiatives.
Job Requirements :
- Diploma in Chemical Engineering or similar
- 2 year of relevant experience in Manufacturing Environment, preferably in Chemical Industries
- Proficient in Microsoft Offices
- Good Interpersonal skills
