Job Description

Responsibilities

(Location: GTower & Mid Valley City, KL)

The Fire Safety Manager shall be responsible for managing, coordinating, monitoring, and improving fire safety management at the assigned property. The role reports directly to the respective Building Management, supervises five Fire Safety Officers, and receives general oversight, governance, technical guidance, and standardization from the COE Safety & Security.

Job Descriptions

OKK, and FSO Coordination


  • Lead the implementation of Organisasi Keselamatan Kebakaran (OKK).
  • Supervise and coordinate five Fire Safety Officers.
  • Ensure FSO duties are clearly assigned.
  • Review FSO reports and follow up on action items.
  • Escalate major fire safety issues to Building Management, Higher management, and COE Safety & Security.
  • Maintain OKK, FSM, and FSO records.

Fire Safety Compliance, BOMBA/JBPM Matters and Reporting


  • Support Fire Certificate and BOMBA/JBPM requirements.
  • Assist during BOMBA/JBPM inspections, visits, audits, and fire drills.
  • Follow up on BOMBA/JBPM findings until closure.
  • Coordinate fire safety matters with internal teams, tenants, contractors, and service providers.
  • Provide fire safety input for renovation, fit-out, maintenance, events, or high-risk works.
  • Prepare monthly fire safety reports.

Fire Safety Inspection, Assessment and Improvement


  • Conduct regular fire safety inspections and assessments.
  • Check common areas, tenant areas, plant rooms, emergency routes, staircases, storage areas, and assembly areas.
  • Identify fire hazards, blocked exits, unsafe storage, and other non-compliances.
  • Assess emergency readiness, evacuation readiness, and tenant readiness.
  • Assign corrective actions and follow up until closure.
  • Recommend improvements for recurring fire safety issues.

Fire Protection System Readiness


  • Coordinate with Building Services on fire protection system readiness.
  • CReview inspection, testing, servicing, and defect records.
  • CMonitor key fire systems, including alarm, sprinkler, hose reel, wet riser, fire pumps, smoke control, emergency lighting, and FCC equipment.
  • CHighlight defects, overdue maintenance, or repeated issues to Building Management.
  • CEnsure temporary shutdown or impairment of fire systems is properly controlled and communicated.

Fire Drill, ERT Preparedness and Emergency Plan


  • Lead fire-related ERT coordination during alarms, evacuations, drills, and emergencies.
  • Plan and conduct fire drills, evacuation exercises, emergency simulations, and tabletop exercises.
  • Conduct ERT briefings, role confirmation, response testing, and communication checks.
  • Monitor evacuation, ERT response, FSO deployment, assembly area control, and tenant participation.
  • Support Fire Command Centre coordination during emergencies.
  • Assist in maintaining and updating the Emergency Response Plan / Fire Emergency Plan.
  • Participate in post-drill, post-simulation, and post-incident reviews.

Fire Safety Training, Awareness and Tenant Education


  • Conduct fire safety awareness sessions for tenants, occupants, contractors, and building staff.
  • Educate tenants on fire prevention, evacuation procedures, assembly areas, emergency exits, and alarm response.
  • Support tenant briefings before fire drills or evacuation exercises.
  • Provide guidance on housekeeping, safe storage, and keeping emergency exits clear.
  • Coordinate fire safety training for FSOs, ERT members, floor wardens, security, and relevant personnel.
  • Maintain records of training, briefings, awareness programmes, and communication issued.

Job Requirements


  • Must possess ONE of the following qualifications or experiences: Bachelor's Degree in Fire Safety field; OR Diploma in Fire Safety OR Engineering field, or equivalent, with not less than 5 years' experience; OR Diploma Kemahiran Malaysia, equivalent certificate, or any qualification determined by the Ketua Pengarah BOMBA; OR Former senior BOMBA officer with not less than 7 years' experience.
  • Must have passed the FSM Certification Course, or be able to attend and pass the required FSM Certification Course.
  • Experience in high-rise buildings, commercial buildings, shopping malls, mixed-use developments, hotels, or buildings requiring a Fire Certificate.
  • Experience dealing with BOMBA/JBPM, Fire Certificate matters, fire drills, fire safety inspections, fire protection systems, or emergency response planning.
  • Good knowledge of building fire protection systems, including fire alarm systems, sprinkler systems, hose reels, wet risers, fire pumps, smoke control systems, emergency lighting, fireman intercoms, and portable fire extinguishers.
