Role Description The Network Data Center Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Kuala Lumpur. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining data center network infrastructure, ensuring high availability, performance, and security. Day-to-day tasks include configuring and monitoring switches, routers, firewalls, and load balancers; managing cabling, rack layouts, and hardware installations; and performing routine health checks, capacity planning, and incident troubleshooting. The engineer will collaborate with software, security, and operations teams to support application deployments, optimize connectivity, and maintain compliance with internal standards. The role also involves creating and updating technical documentation, participating in change management processes, and providing on-call support for critical network and data center issues.
Qualifications
- Strong data center networking skills, including experience with switches, routers, firewalls, VLANs, VPNs, and load balancers.
- Proficiency in network monitoring and troubleshooting tools, and familiarity with routing protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF) and TCP/IP fundamentals.
- Hands-on experience with data center operations such as hardware installation, cabling, rack management, and environmental monitoring.
- Knowledge of network security best practices, including access control, segmentation, and compliance with security policies.
- Experience with cloud or virtualized environments (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V, or public cloud platforms) supporting hybrid infrastructures.
- Ability to document network architectures, configurations, and procedures clearly, and to follow structured change management processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with capacity to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Relevant certifications such as CCNA/CCNP, Network+, or equivalent practical experience are preferred.
- Diploma or degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
