Job Description

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Installing and maintaining electrical systems, equipment, and devices.
  • Reading and understanding instrument drawing, electrical codes.
  • Following all electrical safety procedures.
  • Repairing or replacing equipment, fixtures, and wiring.
  • Troubleshooting and diagnosing issues.
  • Understand Instrument Commissioning process and operation of instrument.
  • Understand the PLCs, Distributed Control Systems (DCS), ESD, PSD, PCS, F&G.
  • Ability to read schematics, work with tools, and follow rigorous safety protocols.
  • Proficiency in calibrating sensors (pressure, temperature, flow)
  • Installation: Setting up new instruments and control systems.
  • Good Attitude, Teamwork player. Problem-solving.
  • Strict compliance with yard HSE and safety regulations, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.

Requirements:

  • NITEC, Higher NITEC, Diploma, or equivalent qualification in Instrumentation, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience as an Instrumentation Technician in the marine, offshore, shipyard, oil & gas, or heavy industrial sector.
  • Hands-on experience in the installation, maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting of instrumentation and control systems.
  • Able to read and interpret instrument drawings, loop diagrams, P&IDs, wiring schematics, and electrical drawings.
  • Knowledge of electrical codes, instrumentation standards, and safe work practices.
  • Experience in instrument commissioning, loop checking, function testing, and system start-up activities.
  • Familiar with PLC, Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Emergency Shutdown Systems (ESD), Process Shutdown Systems (PSD), Process Control Systems (PCS), and Fire & Gas (F&G) systems.
  • Proficient in the calibration of field instruments, including pressure, temperature, flow, and level transmitters using standard calibration equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting, fault-finding, and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to safely use instrumentation hand tools, electrical tools, and calibration equipment.
  • Good understanding of HSE requirements and strict compliance with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and yard safety regulations.
  • Positive attitude with good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Must possess and bring own basic instrumentation hand tools.
  • Willing to work at Tuas Boulevard Yard.
  • Able to commence work on short notice or immediately preferred.
