Assistant Vice President, Contracts


We're hiring! We are looking for an Assistant Vice President to join our Contracts team in KL, Malaysia. This is a virtual role offering the opportunity to work with a dynamic and collaborative team.

What the day will look like

  • Review and negotiate a wide range of contracts, including local and cross-border client engagements, master service agreements and tenders , exercising sound commercial judgment within Aon’s contracting standards and risk tolerances.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders for fact-finding and negotiation.
  • Support global and regional contract risk mitigation initiatives, audits, deployment processes, and other contract-related projects.
  • Develop and improve contract templates to support evolving business needs and growth, managing template changes across New Zealand.
  • Proactively monitor recurring contractual issues both from a client and Aon perspective, identifying trends to inform training, business enhancement and process improvement.
  • Conduct in-house training and share and embed best practices within the businesses.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Nearshoring Team Leader and Chief Contracts Negotiator, APAC.

Skills and experience that will lead to success

Education & Qualifications

  • Law degree with solid understanding of contract law and legal principles, experience with New Zealand law is preferred.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Strong commercial acumen and ability to assess risk pragmatically, focused on enabling business outcomes through practical contracting solutions balancing revenue opportunity, risk exposure, and long-term client relationships.
  • Excellent legal drafting and writing skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage business stakeholders constructively to progress contract negotiations and deliver commercially appropriate outcomes. Effective project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote setting.
  • Proactive and self-disciplined, with ability to manage high volumes and meet tight deadlines through a results-oriented, client-focused approach.
