We are seeking an experienced Export Project Manager to lead and manage the export of vehicles manufactured in Malaysia to international markets, including Brunei, Bhutan, Mexico, and other future overseas markets.
The successful candidate should have strong automotive export experience, sound knowledge of international trade requirements, and excellent project coordination and commercial negotiation skills.
Key Responsibilities
1. International Business Development and Commercial Negotiation
- Identify and develop potential overseas customers through B2B platforms, customs data, trade exhibitions, social media, and other business-development channels.
- Expand the international customer base across markets such as Southeast Asia, Central Asia, Africa, and other regions.
- Respond to customer enquiries and establish long-term business relationships.
- Recommend suitable vehicle models based on destination-country requirements, including emission standards, import regulations, and left-hand or right-hand drive specifications.
- Prepare quotations, conduct commercial negotiations, and finalise export sales contracts.
- Maintain strong relationships with existing customers.
- Manage after-sales enquiries, complaints, and claims to improve customer satisfaction and retention.
2. Order Management and Vehicle Sourcing Coordination
- Verify vehicle documentation, including Vehicle Registration Certificates, Vehicle Licences, VIN numbers, and other required records.
- Ensure vehicles meet export eligibility and destination-market requirements.
- Coordinate with suppliers and internal teams to prepare vehicles for export.
- Arrange vehicle testing, quality inspections, and export preparation activities.
- Monitor the full order-fulfilment process, including pre-delivery inspection, vehicle handover, key management, and document verification.
- Ensure ownership and vehicle documentation are accurate before shipment.
3. Export Documentation and Customs Clearance
- Prepare and review export documentation, including:
- Commercial invoices
- Packing lists
- Bills of lading
- Certificates of origin
- Vehicle export permits
- Other regulatory and customs documents
- Coordinate with customs brokers, freight forwarders, government authorities, and relevant agencies.
- Manage customs declarations, inspections, and export clearance processes.
- Ensure all documentation is accurate and compliant with applicable regulations.
- Minimise delays and risks associated with customs clearance.
4. Logistics Coordination and Delivery
- Arrange shipment schedules through Ro-Ro vessels or container shipping.
- Coordinate inland transportation from the factory or storage location to the port.
- Track shipment progress from departure until arrival at the destination port.
- Work closely with freight forwarders, shipping companies, overseas agents, and customers.
- Support destination-country customs clearance, tax payment, vehicle release, and final delivery.
5. Financial Settlement and Export Tax Refund
- Monitor customer payments through telegraphic transfer, letters of credit, and other international payment methods.
- Coordinate with the Finance team on payment reconciliation and export documentation.
- Support export tax refund processes where applicable.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal control procedures.
- Monitor fund collection and reduce payment-related risks.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in International Trade, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of export experience, preferably within the automotive industry.
- Strong knowledge of international trade practices, Incoterms, export compliance, and customs regulations.
- Experience managing automotive export documentation, shipping arrangements, customs clearance, and international logistics.
- Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
- Strong negotiation, project management, problem-solving, and cross-functional coordination skills.
- Good understanding of vehicle structures, automotive products, and country-specific market-access requirements.
- Experience dealing with overseas customers, shipping companies, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and regulatory authorities.
- Knowledge of electric vehicle export operations and international automotive regulations will be an added advantage.
- Candidates must possess relevant export experience, preferably within the automotive sector.
Salary
Salary will be determined based on the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and prevailing market rates.
Pay: RM10,000.00 - RM20,000.00 per month
