Responsibilities
The Beauty Salon Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the salon to ensure exceptional customer service, smooth workflow, and high standards of cleanliness and professionalism. This role acts as a bridge between management and the beauty staff, handling staff coordination, inventory control, client relations, and financial reporting.
1. Staff Management & Leadership
Supervise front desk staff, estheticians, hairstylists, nail technicians, and other salon personnel.
Coordinate staff schedules, manage shift rotations, and ensure adequate coverage during peak hours.
Conduct regular performance evaluations, identify training needs, and mentor new team members on salon protocols and customer service standards.
Facilitate team meetings to communicate targets, promote new services or retail products, and address any operational issues.
2. Customer Service & Client Relations
Greet clients, manage appointments, and resolve any client complaints or disputes promptly and professionally.
Monitor customer satisfaction and ensure that all staff members deliver high-quality treatments and personalized service.
Maintain a welcoming, relaxing, and professional salon atmosphere at all times.
3. Operational Management
Open and close the salon, ensuring that all security, safety, and hygiene protocols are strictly followed.
Monitor inventory levels of professional products, retail stock, and consumables; place orders with suppliers as needed.
Oversee salon equipment maintenance and arrange for prompt repairs when machinery breaks down.
Ensure compliance with local health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
4. Sales & Financial Administration
Drive sales of salon services and retail products to meet or exceed monthly revenue targets.
Handle daily cash register balancing, processing credit card transactions, and preparing bank deposits.
Assist management with tracking sales metrics, staff commission calculations, and expense reports.
Experience: Minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience working in a beauty salon, spa, or retail management environment, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in Business Administration, Hospitality, or a certification in Cosmetology/Esthetics is a strong advantage.
Skills:
Leadership & Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate a team and handle difficult customer situations gracefully.
Organizational Ability: Strong multitasking skills with the capacity to manage appointments, inventory, and staff simultaneously.
Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with salon management software (e.g., Vagaro, Mindbody, Square) and basic point-of-sale (POS) systems.
Product Knowledge: A strong understanding of beauty trends, hair/skin care products, and treatments.
Environment: Indoor salon setting; exposure to chemical treatments (hair dyes, nail products) and prolonged periods of standing or walking.
Schedule: Flexible availability, often including weekends, evenings, and holidays, depending on the salon's operating hours.
