Key Responsibilities

Underwriting & Risk Assessment

  • Assess, price, and underwrite Marine & Specialty risks within delegated authority.
  • Evaluate risk exposures, coverage requirements, policy terms, and pricing adequacy.
  • Ensure underwriting decisions are aligned with company guidelines and risk appetite.
  • Prepare underwriting referrals for risks exceeding authority levels.
  • Maintain underwriting profitability and portfolio quality.

Broker & Client Management

  • Build and maintain effective relationships with brokers, agents, and business partners.
  • Respond to underwriting enquiries, quotations, renewals, and policy amendments in a timely manner.
  • Provide technical advice and insurance solutions to support business growth.
  • Participate in broker visits, presentations, and market engagement activities.

Portfolio Development

  • Support portfolio growth initiatives through new business development and retention of profitable accounts.
  • Monitor market developments, competitor activities, and emerging risks.
  • Assist in portfolio reviews and renewal strategies to improve underwriting results.

Operational Excellence

  • Ensure accurate and timely issuance of quotations, policies, endorsements, and renewals.
  • Maintain high service standards and turnaround times.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.

Compliance & Governance

  • Adhere to underwriting guidelines, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
  • Maintain proper underwriting records and documentation.
  • Support audit, compliance, and governance requirements as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Insurance, Finance, Economics, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of Marine and/or Specialty underwriting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Marine Cargo and related Specialty insurance products.
  • Good analytical, negotiation, and risk assessment skills.
  • Strong communication and relationship management capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
