UST Hiring! Full Time Product - Platform Support Engineer (BIOS - Firmware) in Pulau Pinang - Ricebowl

We are seeking a Product / Platform Engineer specializing in BIOS and Firmware technologies to support customer-reported firmware and platform software issues on post-launch x86-based platforms. The engineer will be responsible for platform bring-up, firmware integration, debugging, validation, and customer issue resolution.

Key Responsibilities

• Investigate and resolve BIOS and firmware-related issues.
• Support platform bring-up, firmware integration, and validation activities.
• Debug boot flow, initialization, and platform configuration issues.
• Analyze firmware logs and hardware/software interactions.
• Collaborate with hardware, software, validation, and product engineering teams.
• Drive customer-reported issues through root cause analysis and resolution.
• Support customer escalations and technical reviews.

Technical Requirements

• Strong understanding of x86 architecture and platform boot flow.
• Experience with UEFI BIOS architecture, development, integration, and debugging.
• Knowledge of UEFI phases including SEC, PEI, DXE
• Knowledge of Firmware Support Package (FSP) integration.
• Understanding of Firmware Image (IFWI) architecture and components.
• Knowledge of industry standards including:

ACPI

SMBIOS

PCIe

USB

SPI

I2C

UART

eMMC

SDMMC

• Experience reading schematics and platform design documentation.
• Knowledge of memory initialization, power management, thermal management, security features, and platform configuration.
• Experience using debugging and measurement tools including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and protocol analyzers.
• Knowledge of embedded firmware development and C programming.
• Experience with Open Source UEFI-based firmware projects such as Slim Bootloader (SBL) is an advantage.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
• 3–8 years of relevant experience in BIOS, firmware, embedded software, validation, or customer engineering.
• Strong analytical and debugging skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
