A. JOB PURPOSE
- The role is responsible for conducting in‑depth fundamental research and ongoing coverage across assigned sectors and listed companies, providing independent, high‑quality investment analysis to support portfolio construction and equity investment decisions. The position strengthens the Investment Department’s research capability by delivering rigorous valuation assessments, earnings analysis and risk evaluation, supporting disciplined portfolio management, performance consistency and effective deployment of capital in an evolving investment landscape.
B. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Equity Research & Fundamental Analysis
- Perform in‑depth fundamental equity research across assigned stocks, sectors and industries, covering business models, competitive positioning, financial performance, governance and growth prospects.
- Develop and maintain financial models and valuation analyses, including scenario and sensitivity assessments, to support investment decision‑making.
- Produce quality company, sector and market research reports, providing actionable insights and well‑reasoned equity investment views.
2. Investment Assessments & Recommendations
- Support the formulation of investment recommendations based on robust analysis and valuation discipline.
- Present equity investment ideas, risk considerations and portfolio implications to Portfolio Managers, the Group Chief Investment Officer and the Group Investment Management Committee.
- Assist in evaluating risk‑reward considerations, highlighting key risks, assumptions and potential downside scenarios.
3. Market, Economic & Regulatory Intelligence
- Monitor market developments, regulatory changes, corporate actions and macroeconomic trends that may impact investment views and portfolio positioning.
- Review and update investment recommendations in response to new information, earnings releases, market movements or changes in fundamentals.
- Provide timely insights and research inputs to support portfolio positioning and investment strategy discussions.
4. Compliance & Governance
- Ensure strict adherence to internal investment policies, governance frameworks and regulatory guidelines.
- Support strong investment governance through proper documentation, review processes and timely escalation of material risks or compliance issues.
5. Industry Engagement & Stakeholder Management
- Participate in industry engagements, including conferences, analyst briefings, site visits and meetings with company management.
- Maintain professional engagement with market participants, including fund managers, corporates, sell‑side analysts and industry experts, to enhance market intelligence and research depth.
6. Cross‑Functional & Departmental Support
- Prepare, validate, and deliver information, analyses, and materials requested by various units across MNRB Group.
- Support inter-department collaboration by ensuring accurate and timely insights are shared when required.
- Assist senior leaders with strategic tasks, special assignments and investment related initiatives.
- Contribute to a high-performance culture by supporting department priorities and ensuring seamless execution of team objectives.
C. QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE
Academic
- A minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accountancy, Banking, Economics, Mathematics & Statistics, or any other relevant discipline. Advanced academic credentials are an added advantage.
Professional
- Professional certifications such as CFA, FRM and CAIA are highly advantageous. Candidates actively pursuing these certifications are strongly encouraged to apply.
Experience
- 3-7 years of relevant experience in equity research or portfolio management within the financial services, insurance, banking or asset management industry.
- Demonstrated capability in fundamental equity analysis, including company valuation, financial modelling, earnings analysis and sector research.
- Ability to form and articulate independent equity investment recommendations and support investment decision‑making at portfolio management and committee levels.
- Ability to synthesise complex financial, market and macroeconomic information into clear, well-structured research outputs and investment papers.
D. TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES REQUIRED
- Strong analytical capability with understanding in fundamental equity analysis, including company valuation, earnings forecast and investment thesis development.
- Intermediate proficiency in Power BI and Microsoft Excel, including financial modelling, valuation methodologies, scenario analysis, stress testing and data visualisation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present investment theses, valuation assumptions, and key risks clearly to Portfolio Managers, senior management and investment committees.
- Able to work independently, with the ability to manage multiple research coverage responsibilities concurrently.
