Job Description

Responsibilities

At Altair Semiconductor, we develop advanced wireless and IoT solutions that connect millions of devices worldwide.

Our engineers own significant parts of each project, becoming true experts in their fields. You'll work directly with your team from initial concept through final delivery, seeing the real impact of your work.

We maintain a flat organization where ideas flow freely between engineers and leadership. Our experienced team members actively mentor newer colleagues, creating an environment where everyone can learn and grow.

We're proud that our employees choose to build long-term careers with us. Many of our team members have been with the company for years, contributing to a stable, knowledgeable workplace where collaboration comes naturally.

Altair Semiconductor, is a global leader in cellular IoT chipsets. Our low-power LTE-M/NB-IoT and 5G-ready solutions — including the ALT1250 and the award-winning ALT1350 SoC — used in millions of devices worldwide, from smart meters and trackers to wearables and connected vehicles. Combining cellular, satellite (NTN), and sub-GHz connectivity with industry-leading power efficiency, our chipsets are enabling the intelligent, connected physical world. Join us to shape the silicon that powers the next generation of IoT.

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Test Engineer to join our Product & Test Engineering (PTE) team and take a central role in RFIC test development at the silicon level. You will develop and own ATE test programs on the Advantest 93000 platform (SmarTest 8), contribute to test hardware development for wafer sort and final test, and take part in production analysis and RMA investigations. This is a hands-on role with end-to-end ownership — from new product introduction through high-volume production.

Requirements:
  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 3–8 years of experience in semiconductor test and product engineering.
  • Proven experience with IC test development on any ATE platform — must.
  • Experience with RF/mixed-signal device testing — strong advantage.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a data-driven mindset.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills; comfortable interfacing with OSATs and cross-functional teams.
  • Hands-on approach and willingness to work at the bench and on the test floor.

Technical Background

  • Hands-on experience developing production test programs on ATE systems; Advantest 93000 — strong advantage; SmarTest 8 — significant advantage.
  • Solid understanding of RF measurement concepts and lab equipment (spectrum/network analysers, signal generators, power meters) — advantage.
  • Proficiency in programming languages (C/C++, Python, or similar; Java — an advantage).
  • Experience with data analysis tools and production data formats (Python, JMP, MATLAB, STDF-based yield analysis systems, or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with semiconductor production flows, wafer sort and final test methodologies, and working with fabs and OSAT subcontractors.
  • Understanding of quality and reliability methodologies (yield management, SPC, 8D/root-cause analysis) — an advantage

What you will be doing:

As a Test and Product Engineer at Altair Semiconductor, you will design, develop, and maintain production test programs for advanced digital and RF ICs. You will work closely with fellow Product and Test Engineers, silicon design teams, and operations to ensure our devices meet the highest standards of quality and performance. This role is key to delivering reliable, cutting-edge semiconductor products to customers worldwide.

On a typical day:

As a Test and Product Engineer, your day often begins with analyzing production test results and identifying key issues. You might work on refining test programs, developing new hardware for test stations, or troubleshooting anomalies alongside design and manufacturing teams. You will participate in cross-functional meetings, share insights with colleagues, and drive continuous improvements that directly impact product quality, yield, and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop, validate, and maintain RFIC production test programs at the silicon level on Advantest 93000 ATE (SmarTest 8 OS) — from test plan definition through correlation and release to production.
  • Define and develop test hardware (load boards, probe cards, sockets) for both wafer sort and final test stages, working with hardware designers and vendors.
  • Perform production analysis and control: yield monitoring, outlier detection, test-time and cost-of-test optimization, and disposition of production lots at OSAT partners.
  • Take part in RMA and customer-return analysis — perform failure analysis, drive root-cause investigations, and implement corrective actions with product and quality teams.
  • Analyse large volumes of production and characterization data using statistical tools, translating trends into actionable insights for design, product, and quality teams.
  • Support new product introduction (NPI) test readiness from first silicon through qualification and ramp to mass production.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with design, systems, quality, and operations teams, and with external fabs and OSATs, to debug and resolve product and test issues.
  • Document test methodologies, flows, and improvements to support knowledge sharing, standardization, and quality, cost, and yield targets.
