Responsibilities

Role Overview

The Project Management Lead for Malaysia oversees the performance, growth, and technical excellence of the PM and DM teams supporting global projects. This role ensures consistent, high‑quality project delivery, strong commercial performance, and alignment with AECOM’s global PM/DM standards. The PM Lead strengthens Malaysia as a strategic delivery hub and serves as a senior leader in client engagement, project governance, and talent development.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Operations

  • Lead and manage PMs and DMs, ensuring consistent application of PMDM processes and best practices.
  • Drive utilization, quality, commercial performance, and operational efficiency across the discipline.
  • Oversee resource planning, recruitment, onboarding, and succession planning.
  • Communicate business priorities and lead change initiatives across the team.

Technical Excellence & Governance

  • Provide expert guidance on PMDM methodologies, project controls, and delivery standards.
  • Participates in project audits and independent reviews of high‑risk proposals and deliverables.
  • Ensure compliance with AECOM’s HSE, QA, QC, and project delivery procedures.
  • Lead digital transformation initiatives within the PMDM discipline.

Project Delivery

  • Act as Project Director on major or complex projects.
  • Ensure robust scope definition, change management, risk management, and commercial control.
  • Drive interdisciplinary coordination across PM, DM, engineering, and support teams.

Client Engagement & Business Development

  • Build strong relationships with senior client stakeholders.
  • Lead major bids and proposals, shaping technical and commercial strategies.
  • Identify market opportunities and support growth of the Global Design Center portfolio in the region.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Minimum 20 years of experience in project and/or design management.
  • Experience within the consulting/engineering consultancy industry is highly preferred.
  • Proven leadership experience managing high-performing, multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong expertise in project delivery, governance, and commercial management.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex, large-scale projects.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and client engagement skills.
  • Strategic mindset with a track record in business development and winning work.
  • Strong communication, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and ethical standards.
  • Ability to lead through change, ambiguity, and organizational transformation.
