JOB DESCRIPTION
- Develop, generate, and optimize CNC programs using Mastercam for milling, turning, and/or multi-axis operations.
- Interpret and work from engineering drawings, 3D CAD models, and technical specifications, including GD&T callouts.
- Select cutting tools, define feeds and speeds, and determine machining strategies to maximize efficiency and quality.
- Simulate toolpaths, perform verification, and run test cycles to validate programs before production.
- Provide clear setup documentation and tooling instructions for machine operators / machinists.
- Troubleshoot and adjust programs to resolve issues during production (e.g., dimensional problems, tool wear, surface finish).
- Collaborate cross-functionally with design engineers, quality control, and production teams.
- Maintain and update CAM file libraries, program revisions, and standard operating procedures.
- Continuously improve machining cycle time, reduce scrap, and enhance tool life.
- Support machine setup when required (fixture design, work-holding, etc.).
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and production standards.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Diploma, Higher Diploma, or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Precision Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience (e.g., 5+ years) in CNC programming using Mastercam.
- Must have experience working with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Able to create NC programs for 3-axis, 4-axis, 5-axis, and turning operations.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting 2D drawings and 3D CAD models (e.g., from SolidWorks or AutoCAD).
- Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, and materials.
- Experience with CNC machines (milling / turning) and shop-floor operations.
- Previous experience with machining controllers (Fanuc, Heidenhain, Mitsubishi) is a plus.
- Good problem-solving skills, with the ability to debug toolpaths and machining issues.
- Good communication skills; able to work effectively with machinists, engineers, and production teams.
- Self-motivated, organized, and able to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced production environment.
