SEAISI is seeking a highly analytical, proactive, and purpose-driven professional to join our team as an Senior Executive – Research & Data Analytics.

This newly established position will play a key role in strengthening SEAISI's research, data analytics, and policy engagement capabilities, supporting the Institute's regional sustainability and decarbonisation agenda.

The successful candidate will lead research initiatives, develop industry databases, analyse market and policy developments, and engage with a wide range of stakeholders across government, industry, academia, and international organisations. Key Responsibilities

1) Research & Data Analytics

• Develop and maintain comprehensive databases tracking ASEAN steel industry developments, sustainability initiatives, and climate-related policies.
• Conduct quantitative and qualitative research on industrial decarbonisation, energy transition, carbon markets, ESG developments, and emerging policy trends.
• Analyse industry data to identify opportunities, challenges, and strategic recommendations for the ASEAN steel sector.
• Prepare research reports, policy briefs, presentations, and strategic papers to support SEAISI's initiatives and stakeholder engagement.

2) Policy & Industry Engagement

• Collaborate with government agencies, industry leaders, regional organisations, and international partners on research and sustainability initiatives.
• Monitor regional and global policy developments affecting the steel industry and provide timely insights to members and stakeholders.
• Represent SEAISI at conferences, industry forums, technical working groups, and high-level policy dialogues across the ASEAN region.

3) Knowledge Sharing & Capacity Building

• Support the planning and delivery of seminars, technical workshops, conferences, and industry knowledge-sharing programmes.
• Translate technical findings and research outcomes into practical, accessible materials for diverse audiences.
• Contribute to the development of thought leadership publications and sustainability-related communications.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Data Analytics, Engineering, Economics, Environmental Science, Public Policy, or a related discipline. A Master's degree or other postgraduate qualification will be an advantage.
• Minimum 2-4 years of relevant professional experience in industry research, sustainability consulting, public policy, economic research, or data analytics.
• Experience working within manufacturing, steel, energy, infrastructure, environmental, or industrial sectors is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated experience managing research projects involving multiple stakeholders, including government agencies, regional organisations, industry associations, or international institutions.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data and develop actionable insights.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and data visualisation tools. Experience with GIS, business intelligence platforms, or statistical software will be an advantage.
• Proficiency in both English and Mandarin (spoken and written) is mandatory. The role requires frequent engagement with stakeholders across the ASEAN region, making strong bilingual communication skills essential.
• Strong presentation, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills, with confidence engaging senior executives, policymakers, and technical experts.
• Highly organised, self-motivated, and capable of managing multiple projects independently while meeting deadlines.
• Willingness to travel within the ASEAN region when required.
