Responsibilities

Technical Specialist - Reservoir Engineering

Location: Selangor, Malaysia

The SEAM organization integrates Safety, Environment & Asset Management activities, supporting Shell’s business and assets worldwide. The Technical Asset Support (TAS) team, located in Chennai, Manila, Kuala Lumpur & Krakow, delivers high‑quality technical resources remotely. This role focuses on data management and reservoir performance analysis for the Well, Reservoir and Facility Management (WRFM) community.

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with Assets / Reservoir Engineers to maintain and provide necessary access and data for reservoir studies and reviews.
  • Provide support for reports and workflows during the annual reporting cycles (internal and external).
  • Lead Reserves Reporting and Subsurface Benchmarking on behalf of the Asset.
  • Integrate subsurface data types (production, pressures, etc.) and present meaningful insights using industry‑standard data visualization tools.
  • Perform quality checks and coordinate with stakeholders for verification and rectification.
  • Support Assets with Reserves estimation and classification, Decline Curve Analysis (DCA) based Production Forecasting, Well Test interpretation, and MBAL Modelling.
  • Participate in the reservoir engineering network and share key achievements and challenges.
  • Act as a team player and coach/train other colleagues in reservoir engineering processes and workflows as required.
Qualifications
  • University Degree in Geoscience, Reservoir Engineering, Petroleum Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum 6+ years of experience in Field Development Planning, Reservoir Studies, Production Forecasting, Annual Reserves Reporting or comparable areas.
  • Strong data‑management skills – identify data sources, assess data quality, and provide reliable data.
  • Good understanding of various data types such as production, injection, fluid, pressure, reservoir properties.
  • Strong process knowledge in Subsurface & WRFM with a proven ability to lead Exploration and Development activities.
  • Experience with Reservoir Engineering applications (OFM, MBAL, Kappa - ECRIN) is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in data analysis using Python, data integration (VBA, Power Query) and data visualization (Spotfire, PowerBI) is an added advantage.
  • Experience applying Continuous Improvement methods for process improvements is a strong plus.
