Job Summary

You will oversee construction projects by reviewing drawings, supervising site activities, ensuring safety compliance, and coordinating work to deliver quality outcomes aligned with approved plans. The Resident Technical Officer (RTO) is responsible for overseeing daily site operations, ensuring construction works are carried out safely, accurately, and in compliance with approved plans, specifications, and statutory requirements. The role involves supervising contractor activities, identifying discrepancies, monitoring progress, and supporting the project team in ensuring quality and timely execution of all works.

Responsibilities

  • Review and verify all drawings and specifications to ensure construction aligns with approved plans and standards
  • Supervise construction activities on site and report progress accurately to stakeholders
  • Enforce construction safety protocols and coordinate work among site teams to maintain a safe environment
  • Identify and report discrepancies, non-conformances, and irregularities promptly to the Project Manager or Employer
  • Perform additional project-related duties as assigned to support successful project delivery
  • Utilize MS Word and Excel to update and maintain comprehensive project reports

Required competencies and certifications

  • Diploma in Civil & Structural Engineering from a recognized institution
  • Registration as Resident Technical Officer accredited by IES/ACES
  • At least 3 Years of relevant working experience and a diploma in the civil/structural discipline or National Certificate in Construction Supervision (NCCS) or equivalent.

Preferred competencies and qualifications

  • Ability to work independently with self-initiative
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with project teams
