About the Role
Design and develop new products and software features for two-way radios.
Responsibilities
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), covering requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, and deployment.
- Analyze software requirements to assess feasibility, considering quality, performance, time, and budget constraints.
- Collaborate with front-end architects, hardware engineers, test engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure optimal feature implementation and integration.
- Write clean, well-documented, and testable C/C++ code for embedded systems, adhering to coding standards and best practices.
- Conduct and participate in design and code reviews to maintain high code quality.
- Develop and execute unit, integration, and system-level tests.
- Debug and troubleshoot software issues in embedded systems using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Collect and analyze data to monitor and improve key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Contribute to team performance goals and adhere to quality metrics.
- Deliver projects on time and within budget while adapting to evolving requirements in a dynamic agile environment.
- Leverage advancements in AI and develop customized tools to optimize embedded software development, testing, and product functionality.
- Work effectively in a collaborative, multi-site, global development environment.
- Innovate and contribute to the development of intellectual property that enhances our product offerings.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical/Electronic/Telecommunications/Computer Engineering or Computer Science.
- Preferably 3–7 years of experience in software development.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in C/C++ programming and a solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles.
- Understanding of microcontroller operation in embedded systems.
- Experience with board bring-up, BSP, device drivers, bootloader, device tree, memory management, SPI, I2C, UART, toolchains, compilers, and hardware-software integration.
- System debugging and analytical skills.
- Hands-on experience with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) and embedded software development.
- Familiarity with AI-based coding tools (e.g., CoPilot).
- Knowledge of LTE/DMR specifications is advantageous.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies is a plus.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across functional teams.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Flexibility to accommodate occasional short-notice work arrangements based on project/business needs.
- This role is based onsite in Bayan Lepas, Penang.
