Overall Role:

Responsible for the architecture, design, and scalability of the Head-End System (HES) backend platform supporting large-scale AMR/AMI deployments. This role ensures system robustness, data integrity, and performance for high-volume device data ingestion and processing. The Backend HES Engineer defines system architecture, guides implementation, and ensures the platform is scalable from tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of devices. The role works closely with integration, DevOps, and firmware teams to ensure a reliable and maintainable system.

Responsibilities:

Define and design HES backend architecture, including data ingestion pipelines, APIs, and service boundaries

• Develop and maintain scalable backend services for high-volume meter data processing
• Ensure data integrity, consistency, and reliability for billing-critical systems
• Design and optimize system performance for high-throughput ingestion and low-latency processing
• Establish best practices for backend development, including coding standards and architectural patterns
• Review and guide implementation of backend modules by engineering team
• Collaborate with DevOps engineer to ensure scalable and resilient deployment architecture
• Work with IoT Integration Engineer to define payload structures and data handling mechanisms
• Analyze system bottlenecks and implement performance improvements
• Support system-level debugging for complex backend and data-related issues
• Ensure backend readiness for FOTA orchestration and large-scale device management
• Evaluate and recommend technologies for backend systems, databases, and distributed processing

Requirements:

• At least Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science / Software Engineering / Computer Engineering or equivalent
• Preferred exposure to distributed systems, cloud computing, and large-scale backend architecture
• 8+ years of experience in backend system development and architecture
• Strong experience in REST APIs, microservices, and distributed systems
• Proficient in backend languages such as Python, Node.js, Java, or Go
• Experience designing and managing high-volume data ingestion systems
• Strong understanding of database systems (SQL/NoSQL), data modeling, and data consistency
• Experience with message brokers (e.g., MQTT, Kafka, RabbitMQ) is an advantage
• Experience deploying systems on AWS / Azure / GCP
• Familiar with containerization (Docker) and scalable system design patterns
• Good to have experience in IoT platforms, AMR/AMI systems, and handling device-generated data

Pay: Up to RM35,000.00 per month
