Job Description

Responsibilities

The Role
We are seeking an experienced Audit Partner / Director to lead and grow our audit practice, with a strong focus on public-listed company and PIE audit engagements. This is a senior leadership role offering equity partnership potential for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage statutory audits for listed companies, PIEs, and large private groups, ensuring full compliance with approved standards on auditing (ISA/ISAs as adopted in Malaysia) and AOB requirements
  • Act as Engagement Partner / Signing Partner for audit engagements requiring AOB-registered auditor sign-off
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with audit committees, boards, and senior client management
  • Drive business development, including client retention and new engagement wins (IPO audits, due diligence, special assignments)
  • Oversee audit quality control, ensuring adherence to the firm's system of quality management (ISQM 1) and AOB inspection standards
  • Mentor, train and develop audit managers and staff, building bench strength for listed-company engagements
  • Liaise with regulators including the AOB, Bursa Malaysia, and Securities Commission Malaysia as required
  • Contribute to firm strategy, practice growth, and (where applicable) equity partnership matters

Requirements

  • Registered with the Audit Oversight Board (AOB) as an approved auditor/company auditor — mandatory, or eligible and actively pursuing AOB registration
  • Recognized professional qualification: Chartered Accountant (MIA), ACCA, CPA Australia, ICAEW, or equivalent
  • Minimum 10–15 years of audit experience, including significant exposure to listed company and PIE audits
  • Prior experience at a Big Four, mid-tier, or AOB-registered firm strongly preferred
  • Strong technical knowledge of MFRS/IFRS, ISA, and Bursa Malaysia Listing Requirements
  • Proven track record in engagement leadership, client relationship management, and team development
  • Existing client portfolio or business development track record is an advantage
  • Excellent command of English; Mandarin/Bahasa Malaysia an advantage for local client base
