Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Professor role based at Penang Skills Development Centre in Bayan Lepas. The Professor will design, deliver, and continuously update course curricula that align with current industry standards and the Centre’s training objectives. Daily responsibilities include preparing lectures and learning materials, teaching and facilitating classroom and laboratory sessions, assessing learner performance through assignments, projects, and examinations, and providing constructive feedback. The role also involves supervising student projects, mentoring learners on academic and career pathways, collaborating with colleagues and industry partners on program development, and participating in academic meetings and institutional initiatives. The Professor is expected to contribute to applied research or industry-focused projects, support outreach and professional development activities, and maintain accurate records in compliance with institutional policies.
Qualifications
- Strong instructional and curriculum development skills, including lesson planning, classroom facilitation, and the ability to design engaging, outcomes-focused courses.
- Proficiency in assessment and evaluation methods, with the ability to create fair, transparent grading criteria and provide clear, constructive feedback to learners.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to teach diverse groups of learners, collaborate with colleagues, and engage effectively with industry stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to integrate practical, industry-relevant applications into teaching, with experience in technical, vocational, or professional training environments considered an advantage.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, including the ability to manage multiple classes, projects, and administrative tasks while meeting deadlines.
- Commitment to inclusive, learner-centered teaching practices and continuous improvement, including openness to using educational technology and innovative teaching methods.
- Master’s degree or doctorate in a relevant discipline; significant industry experience or professional certifications in the field of instruction are highly beneficial.
- Experience in mentoring, academic advising, or supervising student projects, and a record of applied research, consultancy, or industry collaboration is a plus.
