Responsibilities

Company Overview

Baker Engineering designs and builds mobile offshore units and critical equipment for the offshore marine industry. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of SGX Mainboard-listed Baker Technology Limited, a leading manufacturer and service provider for the oil & gas sector.

Job Summary

Support business growth by assisting the Business Development Manager in acquiring new customers, preparing bids and marketing materials, managing client relationships, and ensuring compliance with company and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Business Development Manager in acquiring new customers and expanding the product and service portfolio to grow the business and clientele base
  • Research and understand relevant industrial sectors to support business development efforts
  • Promote the company’s products and services effectively to target audiences
  • Prepare and submit presentation materials, pre-qualification bids, tenders, agreements, contracts, quotations, and marketing materials to clients
  • Identify and report risks to the company during pre-qualification, tendering, and contracting stages
  • Coordinate with internal departments to support project execution and bid preparation during tendering stages
  • Organize and participate in overseas marketing trips and trade exhibitions to enhance business opportunities
  • Deliver presentations to diverse client groups to communicate value propositions clearly
  • Build and maintain sustainable relationships with all clients to foster long-term partnerships
  • Maintain and improve the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database to ensure accurate client information
  • Manage client documentation for internal circulation to support project and business processes
  • Coordinate and conduct detailed contract and document reviews under the supervision of the Business Development Manager
  • Perform additional tasks assigned by the supervisor to support business objectives
  • Ensure compliance with relevant government regulations and the company’s quality, safety, health, and environmental (QSHE) policies, practices, and procedures at all times

Preferred competencies and qualifications

  • Diploma in Engineering, Business, Marketing, or related disciplines
  • Experience in retail or marketing roles (minimum 3 years for diploma holders; fresh graduates are encouraged to apply)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, with a passion for connecting with people
  • Proven oral, written, and presentation skills demonstrated through client interactions and marketing efforts
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills applied to business development challenges
  • Collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and drive results
  • Strong critical thinking, organizational skills, and attention to detail to manage multiple projects efficiently
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to work outside regular hours and travel as needed to meet customers, attend conferences, exhibitions, and networking events
