About the role

Schmaco Auto Parts Industries Sdn Bhd is seeking a skilled Machinist to join our automotive engineering team on a full-time basis. This is an integral position within our manufacturing operations, located in Rawang, Selangor. As a Machinist, you will play a crucial role in the production and precision machining of automotive components, ensuring the highest standards of quality and accuracy. Your expertise will directly contribute to the delivery of exceptional parts that meet the stringent requirements of the automotive industry.

Key responsibilities

1. Operate and maintain various machine tools including lathes, milling machines, grinders and CNC equipment to produce automotive components to precise specifications

2. Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints and machining instructions to ensure accurate component production

3. Set up machines with appropriate tools, dies and fixtures for different machining operations

4. Monitor machine performance during operations and make adjustments to maintain quality standards and production schedules

5. Inspect finished components using precision measuring instruments such as micrometres, callipers and gauges to verify dimensions and tolerances

6. Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of machinery to ensure optimal operational efficiency

7. Identify and troubleshoot machining problems, making necessary adjustments or reporting issues to supervisors

8. Follow all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment

9. Maintain accurate records of production runs, material usage and quality checks

10. Collaborate with other team members to meet production targets and deadlines

What we're looking for

1. Proven experience working as a machinist or in a similar precision manufacturing role within the automotive or engineering sector

2. Strong proficiency in operating conventional machine tools such as lathes, milling machines and grinding machines

3. Experience with CNC machinery and computer-aided machining is highly desirable

4. Ability to read, interpret and work from technical drawings and engineering specifications

5. Competency in using precision measuring instruments and quality control equipment

6. Knowledge of metallurgy, material properties and machining techniques relevant to automotive components

7. Mathematical skills and attention to detail to ensure components meet tight tolerances

8. Valid vocational qualifications or certifications in machining, metalworking or mechanical engineering

9. Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving capabilities

10. Excellent safety awareness and adherence to health and safety regulations

11. Ability to work effectively within a team environment and communicate clearly with colleagues and supervisors

12. Reliability and commitment to maintaining consistent quality and meeting production schedules
