Responsibilities
· Plan and deliver engaging History lessons aligned with Singapore MOE secondary syllabus.
· Assess students’ learning needs and customise lesson plans to strengthen content knowledge and examination skills.
· Teach significant historical events, developments, personalities, and turning points within their respective contexts.
· Help students understand chronology, cause and effect, change and continuity, and the significance of historical developments.
· Develop students’ ability to interpret sources, evaluate reliability and utility, compare perspectives, and identify purpose.
· Guide students in answering source-based, structured, and essay questions with relevant evidence and clear arguments.
·Encourage students to examine different historical interpretations and form balanced, evidence-based conclusions.
· Mark assignments, monitor student progress, and provide timely, constructive feedback.
· Prepare students for school assessments and national examinations.
· Develop students’ historical awareness, critical thinking, analytical writing, and reasoning skills.
· Create a positive, engaging, and disciplined learning environment.
· Communicate professionally with parents regarding students’ academic progress.
· Develop teaching resources, timelines, source materials, case studies, and examination-practice activities.
· Uphold ATOP Academy’s teaching standards, values, and commitment to academic excellence.
Requirements
· GCE A-Level, Diploma, Degree, or equivalent qualification in Education, History, Political Science, International Relations, or a related field.
· Good command of spoken and written English.
· Strong historical knowledge and proficiency in source analysis and essay writing.
· Familiarity with the Singapore MOE Secondary History syllabus and assessment requirements.
· Ability to explain complex historical developments clearly and objectively.
· Passion for teaching and supporting secondary school students.
· Strong communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills.
· Responsible, patient, enthusiastic, and committed to student success.
· Prior teaching or tutoring experience is an advantage but not required.
