About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Manager, Customs Brokerage to lead our Customs Brokerage operations in Johor. This role is responsible for overseeing daily branch operations, ensuring customs compliance, driving operational excellence, and leading a high-performing team. The successful candidate will play a key role in optimizing processes, improving productivity, managing operational risks, and delivering exceptional service to customers while supporting business growth.
Key ResponsibilitiesOperational Management
- Lead and oversee the day-to-day Customs Brokerage operations to ensure efficient and compliant customs clearance activities.
- Ensure operational excellence by meeting customer requirements, service level agreements (SLAs), and regulatory standards.
- Monitor branch performance and drive continuous improvements in productivity, quality, and operational efficiency.
- Develop and implement operational standards, policies, and best practices to enhance service delivery.
- Ensure compliance with Malaysian Customs regulations and company policies.
Team Leadership
- Lead, coach, mentor, and develop the Customs Brokerage team to achieve operational and business objectives.
- Drive workforce planning by ensuring the right resources are in place to support current and future business needs.
- Manage team performance through regular coaching, performance reviews, and development plans.
- Foster a collaborative, customer-focused, and high-performance work culture.
- Lead change management initiatives to improve operational effectiveness and employee engagement.
Performance & Continuous Improvement
- Monitor and analyse operational KPIs against budgets and productivity targets.
- Identify operational gaps and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, service quality, and cost efficiency.
- Evaluate operational risks and ensure effective contingency planning to minimise business disruptions.
- Monitor subcontractor and vendor performance to ensure service quality and compliance.
Customer & Stakeholder Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, customs authorities, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
- Support the Commercial team by participating in customer meetings and providing operational expertise when required.
- Resolve customer escalations and operational issues promptly and professionally.
- Ensure excellent customer service while maintaining compliance and operational efficiency.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure adherence to customs regulations, trade compliance requirements, and internal governance policies.
- Monitor operational incidents, investigate root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Escalate critical operational issues to senior management when necessary.
- Maintain accurate operational records, reporting, and documentation.
Additional Responsibilities
- Prepare operational reports and present performance updates to management.
- Report operational incidents and risks to the General Manager.
- Perform any other duties assigned by management.
Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain, Economics, Marketing, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of leadership or management experience in Customs Brokerage, Freight Forwarding, or Logistics.
- Strong knowledge of Malaysian Customs regulations, import/export procedures, and customs clearance processes.
- Proven experience managing customs brokerage operations and leading operational teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to drive operational improvements.
- Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and people management capabilities.
- Customer-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; experience with customs declaration systems and logistics software is an advantage.
Preferred Experience
- Experience within an international freight forwarding or logistics organization.
- Familiarity with customs brokerage systems and trade compliance regulations.
- Proven track record in managing KPIs, operational budgets, and process improvement initiatives.
Pay: RM10,000.00 - RM13,000.00 per month
