Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal/Senior FPGA Engineer to lead the development and optimization of FPGA-based solutions for cutting-edge optical circuit switch systems. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and implementing FPGA-based hardware acceleration for optical switching systems, ensuring the efficient routing and switching of optical signals in high-performance, large-scale networks. You will collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to integrate FPGA technologies with photonic and optical systems, enabling high-speed, low-latency optical network performance.
As a senior-level engineer, you will play a key role in both the architecture and design of FPGA solutions, driving the development of next-generation optical circuit switching technologies that power data centers, telecommunications infrastructure, and high-speed optical networks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and implementation of FPGA-based solutions for controlling and managing optical circuit switches in high-performance communication systems.
- Develop and optimize RTL (Register Transfer Level) designs in VHDL, Verilog, or SystemVerilog to handle signal routing, switching logic, and control systems for optical network components.
- Collaborate with optical and photonic engineers to integrate FPGA-based designs with optical switch fabrics, modulators, and photonic components, ensuring seamless system-level functionality.
- Work closely with hardware and software teams to integrate FPGA designs with optical communication protocols and infrastructure, ensuring performance and scalability.
- Perform FPGA synthesis, place-and-route, timing analysis, and resource optimization to ensure designs meet stringent performance, power, and area constraints for optical switching systems.
- Develop testbenches, perform simulations, and validate FPGA designs for optical circuit switches using tools such as ModelSim or Questa, ensuring high quality and reliable performance.
- Work closely with system architects, optical engineers, and firmware teams to define the requirements and ensure the integration of FPGA solutions with optical circuit switching platforms.
