Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal/Senior Optical Circuit Switch Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical design and development of advanced optical switching systems. As a senior-level engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing the mechanical aspects of optical circuit switches, driving innovation, and ensuring that the systems are designed for optimal performance, manufacturability, and reliability. This is a leadership role that requires deep technical expertise, problem-solving abilities, and the ability to mentor and collaborate with other engineers in cross-functional teams.
You will work on cutting-edge optical technologies and contribute to the development of next-generation optical switching solutions that enable high-speed data transmission in telecommunications, data centers, and enterprise networks.
Key Responsibilities
- :Lead the design, development, and optimization of optical circuit switches, including mechanical components such as enclosures, fiber alignment systems, and switching mechanisms
- .Develop mechanical architectures that support integration with optical fibers, MEMS, photonic components, and associated electronics
- .Design and implement advanced thermal management strategies to ensure proper heat dissipation for high-density optical systems
- .Perform mechanical stress, vibration, and environmental testing to validate the reliability and robustness of the optical switch mechanisms under various conditions
- .Oversee the development of prototypes and manage the testing process, from initial concept validation through to full-scale production
- .Collaborate with optical engineers, electrical engineers, firmware teams, and system architects to integrate mechanical designs with optical and electrical components for seamless system functionality
- .Lead the design for manufacturability (DFM) efforts to ensure designs are cost-effective, scalable, and manufacturable in high volumes
- .Provide technical leadership to junior engineers and other mechanical design team members, guiding them in solving complex mechanical design problems
- .Create and maintain comprehensive design documentation, including technical drawings, specifications, test plans, and reports
.
