Role Description

We are currently seeking MEP Manager to support our commercial projects in Malaysia. This position oversees Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) works across project phases, ensuring designs are coordinated, compliant, and aligned with project objectives. Day-to-day responsibilities include leading MEP coordination meetings, reviewing drawings and specifications, resolving technical issues, and ensuring seamless integration of MEP systems with architectural and structural disciplines. The role manages MEP-related procurement activities, supports tender evaluations, and monitors contractor performance to meet quality, safety, schedule, and budget requirements. The MEP Manager also collaborates closely with project managers, consultants, and contractors, prepares progress reports, and supports testing, commissioning, and handover processes.

Qualifications

• Strong Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) expertise, including MEP Design and MEP Coordination skills.
• Technical proficiency in Plumbing systems and related building services design and implementation.
• Experience in Procurement processes for MEP materials, equipment, and subcontractor services.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical, Building Services Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience managing MEP works on large-scale or mixed-use projects, preferably in retail, hospitality, industrial, or commercial sectors.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and codes, with strong attention to detail and quality standards.
• Excellent coordination, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
• Knowledge of relevant local regulations, safety requirements, and industry standards in Malaysia and Southeast Asia.
• Demonstrated problem-solving capabilities, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities on-site.

Responsibilities

1. MEP Site Execution & Supervision

• Manage and oversee all MEP construction activities on site (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, ELV systems)
• Ensure all MEP works are executed in accordance with approved shop drawings, specifications, and method statements
• Supervise MEP contractors and subcontractors to ensure works are carried out efficiently and in line with project requirements
• Monitor installation works including HVAC systems, electrical distribution, plumbing, and fire protection systems
• Ensure proper sequencing and integration of MEP works with structural and architectural elements
• Identify and resolve site technical issues related to MEP installations promptly

2. Planning & Coordination

• Coordinate MEP works in line with the overall construction programme and site progress
• Work closely with Project Managers, Construction Managers, and planners to align MEP activities with project milestones
• Coordinate with architects, structural teams, and other trades to avoid clashes and ensure smooth integration
• Review and coordinate shop drawings, coordinated drawings, and builder’s work drawings
• Identify design discrepancies, clashes, and site constraints, and propose practical solutions
• Lead MEP coordination meetings and technical discussions with contractors and consultant

3. Contract & Commercial Support

• Ensure all MEP works comply with contractual scope, specifications, and project requirements
• Monitor MEP contractor performance, progress, and deliverables against agreed timelines
• Assist in verifying MEP progress for claims and ensure accuracy of installed quantities
• Identify and track variation works related to MEP systems and site conditions
• Maintain proper records of MEP-related site instructions, changes, and correspondence

4. Quality, Testing & Commissioning

• Ensure all MEP installations comply with project specifications, codes, and relevant standards
• Implement and monitor QA/QC procedures for all MEP works
• Conduct inspections of installed systems to ensure compliance and quality workmanship
• Ensure proper testing and commissioning procedures are followed for all MEP systems
• Identify defects, non-conformances, and ensure timely rectification by contractors
• Support handover processes including testing records, O&M manuals, and system training

5. Safety & Compliance

• Ensure all MEP works comply with local authority regulations, codes, and safety requirements
• Enforce site safety practices specific to MEP works (electrical safety, lifting, confined space, etc.)
• Conduct regular inspections to ensure safe installation practices are followed
• Ensure permits, approvals, and inspections are obtained prior to execution of MEP works
• Promote a strong safety culture among MEP contractors and site teams
• Ensure compliance with HSE policies and reporting of incidents or near misses

6. Stakeholder Coordination

• Liaise with consultants, contractors, suppliers, and authorities on all MEP-related matters
• Attend and contribute to site meetings, progress reviews, and technical coordination sessions
• Communicate MEP progress, issues, and risks to Project Managers and senior management
• Facilitate resolution of technical issues between MEP and other trades

7. Reporting & Documentation

• Prepare and maintain MEP progress reports (daily, weekly, monthly)
• Track installation progress, testing status, and commissioning activities
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, testing, and approvals
• Support Project Manager in reporting to clients and management
• Monitor overall MEP performance and recommend improvements for efficiency and delivery
