Job Description

Responsibilities

Tech Pipeline fixes the operational friction that occurs when a company software cannot keep up with its growth. Our partner operates a regional logistics and distribution network, and we are currently working to untangle the bottlenecks in their order processing and inventory tracking. This Junior Automation Specialist role is designed to help our team audit these workflows and implement the technical changes that resolve daily operational drag.

About the role
In this role, you will focus on the broken middle of our client business processes. Right now, their logistics team must often move data manually between different platforms, which leads to errors and delays. You will be tasked with identifying these manual touchpoints and creating small scale automation to handle them. This is a fully remote position where you will spend a significant amount of time looking at logs, checking entries in the database, and confirming that routing rules are doing what they are supposed to do. You will work alongside our senior team to ensure that the fixes we put in place are reliable and easy for the client to maintain after we finish our engagement. We value practical solutions that address the source of truth rather than abstract strategy.

What you will be doing
  • Tracing order data across multiple systems to find exactly where information stops syncing.
  • Reviewing and updating routing rules in the client transport management software.
  • Monitoring daily logs for integration errors and identifying the specific source of the problem.
  • Cleaning up backlogs of mismatched inventory records to ensure systems stay in sync.
  • Writing clear technical documentation for every folder structure or routing fix you implement.
  • Using simple webhooks or basic integration tools to connect disparate logistics apps.
  • Checking periodic reconciliation reports to ensure the financial numbers match the physical inventory.
  • Testing new automated workflows in a sandbox environment to ensure they do not cause friction.

What we need from you
  • Basic familiarity with how web applications communicate through APIs.
  • A technical mindset that prefers reading the logs over guessing why a system failed.
  • Proficient skills in spreadsheets, including the use of formulas to compare large data sets.
  • The ability to explain technical steps clearly in writing for our internal documentation.
  • High attention to detail, especially when reviewing configuration files or mapping fields.
  • A disciplined approach to remote work and the ability to manage your own tasks independently.
  • A basic understanding of logic and conditional statements used in automated workflows.

Helpful background
  • Any previous experience working in a logistics, warehouse, or e-commerce environment.
  • Exposure to low code tools such as Zapier, Make, or other cloud automation platforms.
  • Academic or personal project experience using basic Python or SQL for data cleaning.
  • A background in technical support or another role that required systematic troubleshooting.

What the role offers
  • A permanent, full-time career path in the field of business automation.
  • Competitive and attractive pay that is fair for an entry level technical position.
  • Practical experience solving the concrete problems that modern companies face.
  • A fully remote work environment that values output and technical accuracy over hours in an office.
  • Hands-on mentoring from senior specialists who focus on ground truth and clean code.
  • The chance to work on systems that have an immediate effect on a large regional logistics network.

Working at Tech Pipeline
We operate on the principle of ground truth, which means we care more about how a system actually functions than how it is described in a meeting. Our communication is mostly written and asynchronous to allow everyone time for deep work. We value clear documentation and specific updates over long status meetings or daily calls. Working here requires a focus on the technical reality of how work moves through a pipeline. We do not stay with clients for years: we fix the specific problem, ensure the system is stable, and then hand over the results. This role is a chance to learn how to build systems that a client team can run on their own without needing ongoing support.
