About the Role
We are seeking a motivated SMT Process Engineer to join our manufacturing team. You will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining SMT production processes to achieve high productivity, product quality, and manufacturing efficiency. The role also involves supporting new product introductions (NPI), continuous process improvements, and troubleshooting production issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, evaluate and optimize SMT manufacturing processes for new and existing products.
- Support Design Review (DRR) activities by providing Design for Manufacturability (DFM) recommendations.
- Troubleshoot process and production issues, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective actions.
- Monitor and improve process capability, production yield, quality performance and key process KPIs.
- Establish, validate and standardize manufacturing processes, work instructions and engineering documentation.
- Develop and maintain machine parameters for:
- Solder Paste Printing
- Pick & Place Machines
- Reflow Soldering
- Wave Soldering
- PCB Washing Process
- Program and maintain:
- Automatic Optical Inspection (AOI) systems
- Yamaha YSM20 Pick & Place Machines
- Conduct Design of Experiments (DOE), process validation and equipment qualification activities.
- Perform Statistical Process Control (SPC) monitoring and analyse process performance.
- Support production line activities together with Production and Quality teams.
- Track machine utilization and recommend productivity improvements.
- Support preventive maintenance (PM), calibration activities and machine upgrades.
- Attend to machine breakdowns and coordinate repairs with internal teams or external suppliers.
- Prepare process documentation, work instructions and training materials for production personnel.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Process Engineering or equivalent.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of working experience in PCBA Manufacturing, preferably in SMT Process Engineering.
- Hands-on experience with SMT production processes and equipment.
- Experience in process validation, troubleshooting and continuous improvement projects.
Technical Knowledge
Good knowledge of SMT manufacturing processes, including:
- Solder Paste Printing
- Pick & Place
- Reflow Soldering
- Wave Soldering
- AOI Inspection
- Through-Hole Assembly
- Knowledge of IPC-A-610 workmanship standards.
- Familiarity with DOE, SPC, process capability studies and Lean Manufacturing principles is an advantage.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
