Role Description
The Commercial Analyst supports the commercial performance and profitability of the business through pricing analysis, margin management, commercial reporting, and business insights. Working closely with Sales, Finance, Operations, and the Commercial Operations Manager, the role provides data-driven recommendations, supports pricing decisions, identifies opportunities to improve profitability, and helps ensure commercial governance and consistency across the APAC region.
The role is responsible for delivering accurate commercial analysis, supporting strategic decision-making, and driving continuous improvement in commercial processes and reporting
Principle Accountabilities:
Pricing
- Support profit protection and margin improvement initiatives across all business streams.
- Conduct pricing, profitability, and margin analysis, providing recommendations to support commercial decision-making.
- Support the commercial and pricing aspects of tenders, RFPs, RFQs, contract renewals, and customer proposals as required.
- Partner with Sales, Finance, and operational teams to evaluate commercial opportunities and risks.
- Produce regular commercial reports, dashboards, and analysis on business performance, pricing trends, and profitability.
- Monitor pricing performance and identify opportunities to improve commercial outcomes.
- Develop and maintain pricing models, calculators, and commercial tools to support the business.
- Support insurance administration, reporting, and renewal activities as required.
- Maintain accurate commercial data and ensure consistency across reporting systems.
Operational Support
- Identify opportunities to improve commercial processes, controls, and reporting capabilities.
- Support benchmarking activities, market analysis, and commercial research projects.
- Assist in the development and implementation of commercial policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Develop effective working relationships with Sales, Finance, Operations, and other key stakeholders.
- Support supplier cost reviews and commercial data analysis as required.
- Ensure commercial records, templates, and documentation are maintained accurately and in accordance with company standards.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance commercial efficiency and business performance.
- Support leadership with ad hoc commercial analysis, forecasting, and business performance reporting.
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:
- Degree in Business, Commerce, Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related discipline preferred.
- Previous experience 5 - 8 years in a pricing, commercial analysis, financial analysis, revenue management, or business analytics role.
- Experience developing pricing models, margin analysis, and commercial reporting.
- Experience working with large datasets and providing commercial insights to support business decisions.
- Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
- Sound understanding of pricing methodologies, margin management, and commercial performance metrics.
- Ability to analyze complex data and provide practical commercial recommendations.
- Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar analytics and reporting tools would be advantageous.
- Commercially minded with a proactive and analytical approach.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
