Job Description

Responsibilities

About the Role

The Deputy Construction Manager oversees and manages entire construction site operations, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and according to design specifications. This role involves managing contractors, ensuring site safety, coordinating with stakeholders, and aligning all site activities with the overall project plan.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare master construction programme and catch-up programme, as applicable
  • Plan site access across different stages of work, including tower crane location, erection, and dismantling
  • Resolve drawing discrepancies prior to work commencement and coordinate resolution with the technical team and consultants
  • Work out prelims and budgeting, and monitor cost reports
  • Manage subcontractors and plan work-in-progress across all site activities
  • Plan all site works, including programme schedules and construction methods, and forecast equipment, material, and manpower requirements while controlling usage and wastage
  • Communicate with clients and their representatives (architects, engineers), including attending regular progress meetings
  • Oversee quality control and health & safety matters on site
  • Identify potential and emerging issues affecting the work schedule and recommend solutions to the relevant team/department
  • Maintain strong working relationships with consultants, clients, and subcontractors
  • Adhere to safety practices in the workplace

Job Requirements

  • Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognised university
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant work experience in heavy civil engineering works and infrastructure
  • Strong grasp of end-to-end construction processes, methodology, and technical expertise
  • Strong interpersonal, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Project
  • Sound knowledge of method statements, planning access, and site set-up planning
  • Willingness to learn and adapt
  • Team player with a collaborative approach
  • Strong work ethic and integrity
