Job Description

Responsibilities

We are seeking a compassionate and committed Youth Worker (Student Management) to support the social-emotional well-being, behavioural development, and engagement of students in a school environment. The successful candidate will work closely with school leaders, teachers, and student management personnel to provide counselling, mentoring, behavioural intervention, and programme support to students requiring additional guidance.

This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about making a positive impact on youths and helping students build resilience, confidence, and positive relationships.

Key Responsibilities

Student Support & Counselling

  • Provide individual and small-group mentoring, counselling, and behavioural intervention for identified students.
  • Build positive relationships with students and encourage healthy emotional development.
  • Help students develop coping strategies, resilience, and social-emotional competencies.
  • Identify underlying behavioural, emotional, or social concerns and recommend appropriate intervention plans.
  • Monitor students' progress and follow up on behavioural support plans.

Student Discipline & Behaviour Management

  • Support student discipline, mediation, and conflict resolution.
  • Conduct incident investigations, including interviewing students, recording statements, and reviewing CCTV footage where required.
  • Supervise detention sessions and monitor student behaviour during recess, dismissal, and other key periods.
  • Conduct home visits when necessary.

Programme & Administrative Support

  • Plan and facilitate student engagement activities, workshops, and small group programmes.
  • Conduct workshops on topics such as stress management, time management, and resilience.
  • Maintain proper documentation, case notes, and student records.
  • Prepare reports on student progress and behavioural incidents.
  • Coordinate programme logistics and provide administrative support.

Collaboration

  • Work closely with school leaders, teachers, and student management staff.
  • Communicate with internal stakeholders regarding student progress.
  • Support communication with parents and external agencies when required.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Professional Qualification in Youth Work, Psychology, Counselling, Education, Behavioural Science, Social Services, Early Intervention Teaching, or other related disciplines.

Experience

  • Previous experience working with children or youths is preferred.
  • Candidates with experience in Family Service Centres (FSCs), enforcement agencies, residential homes, schools, or similar social service settings will have an advantage.

Skills & Competencies

  • Passionate about supporting children and youths.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Able to facilitate small group discussions and workshops.
  • Good counselling and mentoring skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Patient, empathetic, and professional.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team

Notes:

  • Working hours are approximately 3 hours per day.
  • No work on Saturdays, Sundays, or gazetted Public Holidays.
  • Actual working hours may vary depending on school programmes, examinations, and student engagement requirements.
