Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Steel & Metal Fabrication Supervisor to oversee daily workshop operations, manage fabrication projects, and lead our team of fitters and welders.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily shop floor operations including cutting, bending, fitting, machining, and welding (SMAW, GMAW/MIG, GTAW/TIG) to ensure efficient production flow
• Interpret engineering blueprints, CAD/structural drawings, and Bill of Materials (BOM) to plan and sequence fabrication activities accurately
• Monitor project timelines to meet production milestones and delivery deadlines consistently
• Coordinate material requisitions, track inventory levels, and implement measures to minimize material wastage
• Enforce compliance with Singapore Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Act and internal safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment
• Conduct daily toolbox meetings, review Risk Assessments (RA) and Method Statements (MOS) before work commencement
• Ensure all workers use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and maintain workshop cleanliness following the 5S system
• Manage machinery safety by maintaining proper permits, inspection certificates, and up-to-date maintenance logs
• Perform pre-fabrication, in-process, and final dimensional and welding inspections to ensure quality standards are met
• Verify work compliance with relevant codes and standards such as AWS, ISO, or BCA requirements
• Identify defects, analyze root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions promptly
• Allocate tasks effectively based on team members’ skills including fabricators, welders, riggers, and machinists
• Provide technical guidance, on-the-job training, and support to enhance team capabilities
• Track daily labor attendance, approve overtime, and monitor productivity performance

Required competencies and certifications

• Diploma or NITEC/Higher NITEC in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Marine Engineering, or related technical discipline
• Minimum 3–5 years supervisory or leading hand experience in steel, structural steel, or sheet metal fabrication in Singapore
• Preferably possess valid Building Construction Supervisors Safety Course (BCSS) or WSQ Supervisory WSH Certifications

Preferred competencies and qualifications

• Deep technical knowledge of metal fabrication techniques, welding processes, and structural steel behavior
• Strong ability to read, interpret, and explain complex 2D/3D technical drawings and weld symbols
• Effective leadership, conflict-resolution, and communication skills
